‘NCIS: Los Angeles’: Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen’s Funniest Moments
NCIS: Los Angeles stars Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen are known for playing Kensi Blye and Marty Deeks. They’re also in-laws. (Ruah is married to Olsen’s brother, David.) Eric Christian Olsen jokes that Daniela Ruah talks too much
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier at Paleyfest 2015, Ruah begins to speak before Frazier is finished with a question. “Do you know how hard it’s been for her to be quiet?” asks Olsen.
Ruah said one of her high school teachers once told her she had “verbal diarrhea.” Ruah continues to speak and then Olsen jumps in and teases her, saying, “He hasn’t asked you a question yet.” He then tells Frazier to continue speaking and he jokes, “This is my life.”

The last line before a commercial break is one of the best lines a television actor can get. NCIS: Los Angeles often has dramatic breaks where the last line is followed by camera-click noises and the actor’s face is shown in a still shot in black and white. Unfortunately, Ruah says Olsen tends to add an unscripted line at the end of her scenes so that he can get the coveted photo at the end of a scene.
During an interview with Queen Latifah, Ruah says it annoys her when Olsen decides to improvise at the end of the scene because she gets cheated out of having the last line. “I’m vain. I’d like to have that last moment on camera,” joked Ruah. “You know, [it’s] the last thing people see before you go on commercial. It’s a positive thing.” Olsen says he continues to do it because he loves seeing Ruah’s frustrated reaction afterward.
Daniela Ruah drove to Eric Christian Olsen’s house when she was in labor
Most women go to the hospital as soon as their water breaks, but this wasn’t the case for Ruah. She told Queen Latifah she decided to drive to her brother-in-law’s house. She admits she did this partly because she was in denial. It was three weeks before her baby was due, so she figured it wasn’t time yet. Olsen joked with the audience, saying, “Ladies, when your water breaks, just cruise on over. I got your back.”
Eric Christian Olsen said he and Daniela Ruah are practically ‘married’
During a 2014 interview with CBS Los Angeles, the host asks Ruah and Olsen if their chemistry is the same off camera. The NCIS: Los Angeles stars agree they have similar chemistry once the cameras stop rolling. Ruah says they fuss at each other and that they wouldn’t be able to have good on-screen chemistry if they didn’t have real chemistry off screen.
“We have pretty good banter,” said Olsen. “She’s usually yelling at me. It’s good; we’re essentially married for 6 years,” he joked. “Because you’re spending 12 hours a day with each other.”
