A deaf engineer helps the ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ team
During NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 Episode 16 (titled “Signs of Change”), the team needs help after military-grade technology is stolen. A deaf engineer, Sienna Marchione (Raquel McPeek Rodriguez), steps in to lend Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and the rest of the agents a hand.
Their goal is to stop the transport of the technology before it’s shipped out of the country. Sienna is the only member of her team to survive the theft, so she wants to do all she can to assist. Also, she has always wanted to help her country, and this is her chance to make that happen.
Kensi and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) talk to Sienna and learn she’s been perfecting her fighting skills. She comes from a Navy family, but she was never able to join because of her disability.
“If they won’t let me serve, I’m going to do everything I can to protect the ones who do,” says Sienna during a sneak preview of episode 16. Since Sienna couldn’t join the military, she became an engineer and worked in the private sector with a company that contracts with the military.
Sam Hanna gets shot
Sam (LL Cool J) and Callen (Chris O’Donnell) run into an obstacle when the people behind the theft decide not to cooperate. “They’re stonewalling us—whoever they are,” says Sam.” However, Sam tries to stay positive. “I like your attitude, it screams optimism,” says Callen.
During the episode 16 preview, it is revealed that Sam is shot while trying to investigate a lead. “I’m hit!” he yells. In another scene, Kensi asks if the people involved would be willing to kill to keep their hands on the stolen technology.
Nell does her best to take charge in Hetty’s absence
Nell (Renée Felice Smith) continues to fill in for Hetty while she’s away. She has been having difficulty performing Hetty’s job, but she’s doing the best she can. Admiral Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) has been encouraging Nell to be tough and fully embrace her new role.
During one scene, Kilbride walks in while Nell is on the phone. She tells the caller, “Under no circumstances can I allow this to happen.” Kilbride is happy to hear Nell taking charge. “You were finally sounding like you ran the place,” he says.
Nell explains that she was on the phone handling a situation when he barged in and interrupted her. “You keep that pressure up,” he says. “Add a little salt–you know, the really rough kind—and twist that knife,” he says.
What happened last time on ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’
A lot of confusion was created during NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 Episode 15 after Nell came across a hard drive that contained a deep fake video. The video was troubling because it featured a dead terrorist. Making matters even worse, someone compromised the team’s communication devices and pretended to be them during important exchanges.
During one exchange, someone pretended to be Kensi and sent Sam into a room with a bomb. Fortunately, the LA team tracks down the source of the deep fake technology and takes down the bad guys.
NCIS: Los Angeles airs Sundays on CBS at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
