‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Star Rob Kerkovich ‘Terrified’ Of His Performance
The midseason premiere of NCIS: New Orleans put the spotlight on Forensics Field Agent, Sebastian Lund, played by Rob Kerkovich. In celebration of the big night, Kerkovich took to Twitter to remind fans to tune into the first new episode of 2020. The star, however, refrained from live-tweeting. Here’s why Kerkovish felt too ‘terrified’ to hang with fans online in real-time.
[Spoilers for the NCIS: New Orleans midseason premiere ahead]
The ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ midseason premiere was Sebastian-centric
Without giving too much away, the Feb. 16 premiere of NCIS: New Orleans allowed Rob Kerkovich to dig into Sebastian’s fears, forcing him to conquer them.
The episode began by revealing Sebastian was working undercover to help stop a group of white nationalists from a terror attack towards the military minority groups.
While Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) struggled with hallucinations of the man in the red suit and sleep deprivation, Sebastian’s undercover work led the team to the criminals, where they could be killed and/or stopped.
Sebastian spent his time dismembering bodies to fit into the militia, punching Pride in the face and wondering if he made it into the REACT team while the rest of the team did the necessary research to nail the bad guys. It was a team effort, but Sebastian led the charge — with a sweet mustache to boot.
Why Kerkovich was ‘terrified’ to watch the episode
Like many actors, Kerkovich tweeted a reminder to fans about the new episode but stated he couldn’t bring himself to live-tweet saying he’s “terrified” of his performance.
Understandably, it’s a lot of pressure to carry the episode. However, fans weighed in to show support for Kerkovich.
“Oh, please Rob you’re always awesome! The glue that holds the show together! Always an a+ performance,” this fan said. “You were awesome,” another tweeted. “Your performance is always beyond perfect, even amazing, keep it up Rob!” this excited viewer said.
The love didn’t begin or end on Twitter. The comments via Kerkovich’s Instagram post of the show had many chiming in to show the actor some love.
“No glasses and the hair is perfect yas,” one person said. Actor and comedian, Kirk Fox even weighed in saying, “At first I thought I did an episode and forgot.”
Kerkovich, who understood Fox’s comment referred to Sebastian’s undercover mustache responded. “This is the greatest compliment I’ve ever received,” he said.
What’s next for Sebastian and the ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ team?
Now that Sebastian received his “congratulations” letter in regards to joining the REACT team, he and Tammy Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) will have some navigating to do. Gregorio remains rightly protective of her roommate, fearing he will get himself hurt. However, Sebastian proved himself in this episode, and she [reluctantly] offered her support.
The biggest question still is whether Pride will deal with those hallucinations of the mad in the red suit, or not. They’re beginning to interfere with work, and may eventually take Pride down if he doesn’t deal sooner rather than later.
The “murder” of Eddie Barrett (Eddie Cahill) has yet to be dealt with, but so far, Pride hasn’t had any consequences for what may, or may not, have been self-defense. With plenty more episodes to go, here’s hoping we get to the bottom of what’s plaguing Pride and how Sebastian keeps that mustache looking so fly.
NCIS: New Orleans airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
