‘NCIS’: Are Ziva and Tony Really OK? Michael Weatherly’s Tweet Has Us Thinking Ziva Never Went Home
During NCIS Season 17, Episode 16, Jimmy Palmer receives a letter from Tony DiNozzo Sr. (Robert Wagner). In the message, he says Tony, Tali, and Ziva are OK and that he’s a happy grandpa. However, some clues could be pointing in a different direction. What’s really going on with Tony and Ziva? Here’s what Showbiz Cheat Sheet thinks really happened.
Michael Weatherly says Tony DiNozzo learned an important lesson from Gibbs
During a 2013 interview with CBS about NCIS Season 10, Weatherly discussed Gibbs’ character and what Tony DiNozzo has learned from him. Weatherly says a big lesson DiNozzo learned was to be cautious about personal relationships. We see later that DiNozzo didn’t heed this advice. He and Ziva became involved romantically and had a daughter named Tali:
All these characters on NCIS surprise us. You think you know Gibbs, and then another corner gets turned. And here’s this honorable, principled guy who will lie, cheat, and steal if he has to. I think Gibbs is a fascinating, complex guy. And I think one of the things that DiNozzo learned from Gibbs is be careful with your personal entanglements, because you’ll just end up getting hurt.
Will Ziva hurt Tony?
At the beginning of NCIS Season 17, we learn more about Ziva and what happened to her during her six-year absence. Although she was presumed dead, we later find out she went into hiding so she could protect Tali from Sahar. One unexpected fact we learn is that Ziva developed severe anxiety after giving up Tali and going into hiding. The shock and pain of being separated from her young daughter was too much to bear.
During NCIS Season 17, Episode 10 (titled “North Pole”) Ziva tells Gibbs she’s not sure if she can go back to the life she had before she went into hiding. Gibbs says she can, but we’re not so sure. Ziva describes anxiety as one of her “demons,” and it doesn’t seem like she has a handle on the situation yet. We wouldn’t be surprised if Ziva got cold feet and never went home to be with Tony and Tali.
Michael Weatherly left a cryptic message about Tony and Ziva
Although Tony’s father (Tony DiNozzo Sr.) sends a letter to Jimmy Palmer to let him know everything is OK and that the family is doing well, something doesn’t feel right. We never get to see an on-screen reunion, and Ziva repeatedly says she doesn’t know if she can go back to her old life.
After Weatherly posts a message on Twitter about the possibility DiNozzo Sr. isn’t telling the whole story, we’re starting to wonder if we’re right. Did Ziva get scared and fail to show up for the reunion? Are Tony and Tali wondering what happened to her? Weatherly’s tweet has a lot of fans confused and worried. “Hi. The thing to remember about DiNozzo Sr. is that he is extremely gullible,” wrote Weatherly. “Most con men are. You didn’t see a family reunion happen (or a long-ago death happen!). So, maybe it didn’t happen?”
Robert Wagner is set to reprise his role as Tony DiNozzo’s father, according to TV Insider. We think Wagner will be back because Ziva never shows up and now he and Tony Jr. are looking for her. We don’t know if this is the case, but one thing we do know is the NCIS producers have us on the edge of our seats this season.
