Nelly and Shantel Jackson Reportedly Call It Quits After 6 Years
It’s curtains for another celebrity relationship. After speculation that Nelly and Shantel Jackson had split, the model and actor confirmed she and the rapper have gone their separate ways. Jackson and the “Country Grammar” star had been together for over six years before their breakup.

According to Heavy, Nelly began dating Jackson in 2014, after meeting her through a mutual friend. “It’s dope, you know? To have anybody, in whatever it is that you’re doing,” he told Entertainment Tonight in 2017 when asked about his budding relationship with Jackson. “To have the person that you love, the person that you f— with, come out and support you, that’s all you want. That’s all that anybody’s looking for.”
Nelly, 46, also said he felt their relationship was so strong because they had been friends first.
“Being friends first, I think, is something important,” he stated. “Then, I feel like you come into a situation that’s genuine. I think some of my past relationships, I don’t think everybody came into them genuinely. And when you don’t come into them genuinely, sometimes it festers and sometimes you end relationships for the wrong reasons. But when you come in it genuinely, and you enjoy just being around that person, that’s important.”
Our hearts melted as we watched their relationship play out in the public eye, from adorable comments about one another to playful Tik Tok videos. But now, it’s apparently over.
Shantel Jackson has confirmed her split from Nelly
When a fan asked Jackson on Instagram if she and Nelly were still together, she replied, “No we’re not ….. Just friends.” But Jackson, 37, did not reveal the cause for the breakup.
Nelly has not yet commented on her statement, and emails to his representatives were not immediately returned. One of his last statements on their relationship came in October 2020, when he told Entertainment Tonight that he believed Jackson was “the one.”
“She’s great. She’s really dope. We have a great time, and we understand each other,” he said, adding, “I would not want my life to not have Shantel in it. We’ve been seeing each other for five or six years. Any time you can connect with somebody like that, it works out for the long run. She’s sweet, beautiful, and the more we got to know each other, she’s just as beautiful inside.”
Asked directly if marriage was in the cards, he responded, “We’re working towards it. When we know, I’ll tell you.”
