Back in 2002, you could probably recite every word to the rapper and singer‘s mega hit “Dilemma.” Then when the video for the track was released, you couldn’t get enough of seeing them dancing together. But something anyone who’s ever watched that video has wondered is: Did they ever date?

The “Dilemma” video takes place in the fictional town of Nellyville where Rowland and her mother, played by Patti LaBelle, move to. The video shows that Rowland has a boyfriend but still gets pretty flirtatious with Nelly. In one scene, the former Destiny’s Child member checks a message on her Nokia 9210 which reads: “Where you at? Holla when you get this.”
The problem is the message appears to have been typed on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, with the grid and letters clearly visible in the shot. The error has been shared on TikTok over a million times.
Rowland addressed the blunder during an appearance on The Real telling the hosts: “Here’s the sitch, OK. I don’t know what that is. I don’t know what Microsoft Excel is, I don’t know I don’t have a clue. So when I saw all those memes I was like, ‘I don’t care!’ Literally thinking, ‘what is it?'”

Because the “Hot in Here” rapper and “Stole” artist appeared to have had so much chemistry in the 2002 video, many people thought there was a romance brewing behind the scenes.
Camps for Nelly and Rowland have always denied those rumors and at one point the singer stated they were very close but there was nothing and has never been anything romantic between them.
“Nelly and I are not dating. He actually has been a friend of Destiny’s Child for years. Nelly’s like a big brother,” Rowland stated (per Zimbio).
Are Nelly and Rowland in relationships today?
These days Rowland is married and has children. She wed Tim Weatherspoon, who is a talent manager, on May 9, 2014, during an intimate ceremony in Costa Rica. The couple welcomed two kids, Titan Jewell and Noah Jon, and reside in the Sherman Oaks section of Los Angeles.
Nelly had been in a relationship with Shantel Jackson since 2014. But in July 2021 when a fan asked her via Instagram if they were still together, she said: “No we’re not … Just friends.”
In 2023, Nelly rekindled a romance with R&B songbird Ashanti, whom he dated before Jackson, and announced that they were expecting their first child together.
