The fan believes that “the physical acting was going to be important to anyone portraying Geralt, and Cavill looks like he did very well.” Cavill definitely seems to be rather confident in the role. Probably because he is a fan of both the Witcher books and the games.
Why might fans be so excited?
We’re not claiming to know entirely, yet we can speculate based on fan reactions. Fantasy fans are, of course, excited for another story in the genre. Fans also seem to be looking forward to the show expanding on characters from the books such as Yennefer and Ciri.
Fans are probably excited to see the development of what showrunner Lauren Hissrich calls, the “disjointed family” of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri. These three characters seem to need each other but none of them want to admit it. Fans are also probably excited to see Henry Cavill as Geralt, as he is a fan of The Witcher books and games.
