Never one to let other celebrities outshine her, Candiace Dillard Bassett made her first public appearance since giving birth to her first child. See The Real Housewives of Potomac alum’s snatched postpartum body and stunning look at the EBONY Power 100.
Candiace Dillard Basset shines in first outing since giving birth to baby son
Bassett took to Instagram pre-party to show off her sparkly look. Bravo fans know the 37-year-old will never turn down a glam moment, and Bassett delivered. Celebrity hairstylist Jared Henderson, known to clients and fans as JStayReady, styled the reality star’s voluminous “bronde” curls. Makeup artist Charisma Raye delivered a matte rose lip and golden smokey eye look for her “Sagittarius sister,” as Bassett shared on Instagram.
Bassett wore a corset-style silver gown with a neckline that plunged nearly to her belly button. The bodice featured a vertical striped pattern and tiny petals covered in rhinestones. The skirt cascaded to the R&B singer’s gold platform heels and featured a dramatic side-slit opening to her upper thigh. Bassett walked the red carpet sans her husband, Chris Bassett, who may have been on baby duty.
Chris and Candiace Bassett begin their parenting journey
The couple welcomed a son, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett, on October 3. Candiace’s first child made for an exciting birth experience. The new mom made waves when she revealed she paused her labor to do her makeup and hair, reports People. “Between contractions and pushes while I was in labor, I was doing my makeup,” Candiace shared. “… My doula was there, holding up a mirror and a ring light while I was getting my face right. I had pin curls in, so I was taking those out.” This move did not surprise longtime fans of the RHOP star, who’s known for her over-the-top looks.
Now, a month and a half removed from Jett’s birth, the star shared that she and Chris “couldn’t be happier” despite feeling some of those new parent nerves. “Throughout my pregnancy, when I would talk to him in my stomach, I would say, ‘I can’t wait to see who you’re going to be,'” Candiace shared with People. “And that’s been the joy in my heart that’s continued after his birth. It’s exciting to think about. I’m so ready for a lifetime of being on the sidelines, cheering him on.”
Jett joins Chris’s three children from his previous relationships. The private chef and food consultant has Owen, 22, Mateo, 14, and Naia, 10, who Candiace has parented as a “bonus mom” since their wedding in 2018. The same year, Candiace joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac, where she held court until April 2024, when she announced she was stepping away from the Bravo show to focus on her pregnancy. How has motherhood been so far? “Oh, I wish I started sooner because I already want more,” Candiace, always honest, shared with People.
