Will There Be a New Season of ‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’ in 2025? Deon Derrico Shares Update on Show’s Future
What’s next for the Derrico family? The stars of TLC’s family-focused reality series Doubling Down With the Derricos had a tumultuous 2024 marked by Karen and Deon Derrico’s surprising split and the tragic death of Deon’s nephew Amani. Now, Deon is promising fans that they’ll get to see how his large family navigates those challenges in a new season of their show.
Deon Derrico promises that his family is returning to TV
Doubling Down With the Derricos premiered in 2020. The fifth season finale aired in July 2024. Since then, there’s been no word about when the show might return to TV. But in a recent social media post, Deon assured followers that he and his 14 children were hard at work on new episodes.
“Yes there will be a new show,” Deon wrote in response to a comment on Instagram on Jan. 13. “We are filming right now.”
In a comment posted in December 2024, the Las Vegas dad said that he and his family would “be back on television but not until later next year.”
TLC has not shared any updates about whether Doubling Down With the Derricos will return for season 6.
Where do Karen and Deon Derrico stand following their divorce?
Any new episodes of Doubling Down With the Derricos will likely address Karen and Deon’s sudden divorce. Last summer, the couple stunned fans when they confirmed that they’d divorced after nearly 20 years together. Karen and Deon filed for divorce on June 6 and finalized the split just days later.
In a statement, the TLC personalities said they were committed to co-parenting their 14 children. “We thank everyone for their understanding and support as we move forward for the good of our family,” they said.
According to TMZ, Deon will pay $1,166 per month in child support for their 13 minor children while Karen will cover the cost of their kids’ medical insurance.
Since then, the pair have remained relatively quiet about their split. But in a June 20 Instagram video, Karen said she was “doing as good as can be” following the end of her marriage.
“I feel the love. I genuinely feel the love. It’s, like, I can almost get emotional,” she said. “To see the outpour is just amazing. So I just wanted to tell you all, thank you for the love and support.”
Karen, 44, added that she was planning to focus on self-care and possibly take a vacation. She was also looking into new professional opportunities.
“There’s a lot of speaking engagements coming my way that I have to go through and choose where I’m gonna go, but I am thankful and grateful for that – to tell my story, my journey,” she said. “So I am definitely looking into taking care of Karen for a while.”
