Who Is NHL Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy’s Wife Kseniya Vasilevskaya?
If you’re an NHL fan chances are you’re familiar with Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. He’s played in more than 100 postseason games, won multiple Stanley Cup Championships and the Conn Smythe Trophy as finals MVP, and holds the record for most wins in a single postseason for his performance in 2020.
Because the athlete has accomplished so much in his career already, his name has been mentioned with some of the all-time greats as one of the best goalkeepers to ever play the game. His success has also led many fans to become interested in his life off the ice. Here’s more about Vasilevskiy’s wife, Kseniya (Ksenia) Vasilevskaya, and their family.
How Vasilevskiy met his wife
Vasilevskiy and Vasilevskaya are both from Russia and actually met when they were seated by each other on a flight to Moscow. At the time she lived in Moscow and he was playing for the city of Ufa.
The pair hit it off and dated for several years before tying the knot in 2014.
Vasilevskaya hangs out with other WAGS but prefers to stay out of the spotlight
Despite being married to the NHL star, Vasilevskaya has managed to stay out of the spotlight and therefore very few details are known about her.
She doesn’t have any active social media accounts and tries to stay under the radar even when she attends her husband’s games at Amalie Arena. She has, however, been spotted out with and attending functions alongside the wives of some of Vasilevskiy’s teammates including Anastasia Kucherov, who is married to Nikita Kucherov.
According to Heavy.com, it’s believed that Vasilevskaya had a modeling career before she and Vasilevskiy got together. The publication noted that in 2014 during a discussion board with Vasilevskiy on the Russian website Vkontakte, one user linked to a picture of Vasilevskaya that was watermarked with the URL of a Russian modeling site.
How many children they have
In 2015, Vasilevskiy and Vasilevskaya welcomed their first child together; a son they named Lukas. A report published in the Tampa Bay Times noted when and how Vasilevskiy got the news that he was a father.
After a game in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, when he played for the Lightning’s American Hockey League affiliate the Syracuse Crunch, Vasilevskiy was summoned to then-coach Rob Zettler’s office. The goaltender knew he was getting called up to the NHL and figured that was the news he was going to hear.
“I said, ‘No, you’re a new dad,'” Zettler recalled. “Even better news.”
Vasilevskiy loves being a husband and parent and has stated that his family and hockey are the things that matter to him the most.
“There’s probably guys my age like to go to bars or somewhere else, but not me. I’m not that kind of person. I like to be at home. Just hockey and family, that is my life,” he said.
