Niall Horan from One Direction started Pride Month by making sure his fans know that he loves and supports them. The star, who sang hit songs “This Town,” “Slow Hands,” and “Nice to Meet Ya,” has been using his Twitter platform to communicate with fans for years. Here’s what he said to kick off Pride Month right.
How did Niall Horan get started in music and One Direction?
Horan auditioned for The X Factor in 2010 at just 16 years old and ambitiously stated that he wanted to be like Beyoncé and Justin Bieber. “I want to sell out arenas and make an album and work with some of the best artists in the world,” he said during his audition. “I’m here to be the best artist I can be in the world.”
He sang “So Sick” by Neyo. Katy Perry called him “adorable” and Simon Cowell said, “you’re not as good as you thought you were.”
Horan later joined the five-part band One Direction on The X Factor. They later sold-out arenas, stadiums, and had hit after hit. After One Direction went on hiatus in 2015, Horan released his first solo single, “This Town,” in 2016. He toured the radio station Jingle Ball concerts that same year then put out Flicker in 2017. Horan put out his second solo album, Heartbreak Weather, in 2020. His millions of fans love it.

While in One Direction, Horan co-wrote many of the band’s songs and toured all around the world with the other members. He helped create the band’s albums Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, Four, and Made in the A.M. The boys toured year after year, while simultaneously creating the next album. He also starred in the 2013 tour documentary film One Direction: This Is Us and in the next year, One Direction: Where We Are – The Concert Film. One Direction released four perfumes as well.
