Nick Cannon Is Managing Lil’ Kim and Has the ‘Queen Bee’ Doing Something Different
Lil’ Kim is undoubtedly one of the most iconic figures in hip hop. She made her splash onto the music scene as the protegee of The Notorious B.I.G. with his crew Junior Mafia. Since then, she’s established herself as an independent force who has served as inspiration for rappers behind her, including Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B. Now, it appears Kim is looking to do more outside of music.
The rapper recently revealed she’s dabbling more into acting. Furthermore, she’s enlisted the help of another rapper and entertainment personality, Nick Cannon, to assist in her transition.
Lil’ Kim announces Nick Cannon as her manager; says Cannon is helping her transition into acting
Kim is making some serious decisions about the next phase in her career. Though she continues to make musical appearances and tours regularly, Kim is realizing the need to expand her profile outside of music. In a recent interview with Complex Magazine’s Hiking With Rappers, the rap legend shared she’s under new management and trying her hand at acting.
“I just shot a movie with Nick Cannon,” Kim revealed. “People don’t even know, like he’s one of my best friends. We’ve been best friends for years … And we just shot a movie called Miracle Across 125th Street. I really did that movie for Nick, but I love doing movies.”
Kim added: “It’s part of my next level. Nick is convincing me. You know he’s my manager?”
The “Crush On You” rapper has made small appearances in television and film. She had a guest role in several episodes of season 6 of Moesha. She also made an appearance in the cult classic You Got Served. Her other acting credits include appearances in Juwanna Man, The Parkers, and Gangs of Roses.
The rapper is also set to release her first memoir
In addition to acting, Kim is also working on telling her life story. Instead of doing it with a documentary or a biopic, Kim put pen to paper for an official memoir.
Per Revolt, the self-proclaimed Queen Bee is releasing her memoir on Nov. 2. With the assistance of the publishing company Hachette Books, The Queen Bee details Kim’s unique journey in the male-dominated hip-hop industry. An official statement released by the publishing house notes that the book is a “page-turner” filled with stories about Kim’s “complicated high-profile relationships and the misogynistic industry she fought to change through sex positivity” while “challenging double standards of self-image and beauty in the spotlight.”
It’s widely known that the late Notorious B.I.G. was instrumental in crafting Kim’s sex-positive image. Their relationship will more than likely be a large portion of the book. Also chronicled in the book will be Kim’s 2005 prison sentence for lying in federal grand jury court.
A release date for Miracle Across 125th Street has not been announced.
