Whenever Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs got into a relationship, it was bound to attract a lot of attention. But his rumored fling with Lori Harvey received more attention than most. Not only because of the age-difference between the two, but also because it was rumored that Harvey also dated his son Justin. Many threw in their opinions about the alleged romance at the time, including Nick Cannon.

Diddy was reportedly on a long list of celebrities Harvey has dated throughout the years. TMZ fueled rumors of the couple being an item back in 2019 when they released photos of the alleged couple hanging out. Even by Diddy standards, however, the relationship drew a lot of controversy. The music mogul was 49-years-old at the time, while Harvey was 22. The publication also noted that Harvey dated Diddy’s son Justin not too long before then, although neither Justin nor his father ever addressed the rumors. The only member of the Combs household who might’ve alluded to some kind of connection was Christian.

“They good. They’re just being… Private time,” Christian told Hollywood Life in 2019. “That’s up to them.”

Cannon also gave his 2 cents on the Diddy-Harvey romance. If it was true, he would’ve felt completely ashamed of himself if he was Harvey’s father.

“She’s what, 23? And he’s 49… 22 and 49. Aw, man! I don’t have a problem with that, but I would be heartbroken if that was my own daughter. To each his own,” Cannon once told VladTV.

“I would feel like I failed as a father if I’m sitting across the table with a dude the same age as me that’s dating my daughter. I would feel like I failed,” he said.

Lori Harvey might’ve referenced her alleged relationship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

Harvey appeared to subtlety address her relationship with the Combs family in an interview with E! News (via People). She confided to the publication how her silence has often led to some exaggerated accusations regarding her dating life.

“It’s so funny, because I’m so quiet, there’s been so many stories that have been made up about me. I’ve seen stories about me being fully in love with somebody, and we have this whole relationship, and I’ll see the guy, and I’m like, ‘I’ve actually never even met him before,’” Harvey said.

Harvey hinted that her relationships with Diddy and Justin were one of those many misconceptions about her. Although she didn’t mention either by name.

“I’ve heard I dated a father and son before. Absolutely not true,” she said. “I’ve even heard that I’m a lesbian at one point. So you know, there’s been a lot of different things, a lot stories, a lot of misconceptions.”

If Harvey really was dating Diddy at the time, it’s a wonder if her stepfather Steve Harvey would’ve approved the relationship or not. There’s only a 12 year difference between himself and the music mogul. And in light of Diddy’s recent scandals, the Bad Boy CEO might be the exact kind of person that Steve would block Harvey from dating.

“If I spot a bad one, I get rid of them,” Steve once told Us Weekly. “I make no bones about it, so they’re very careful when they bring them.”

To weed out potential problems for his daughter, Steve confided that he typically waits a good while for Harvey’s suitors to show their true colors.

“You can think a person is wonderful, but everybody’s wonderful in the beginning. Everybody, you always meet the mask,” Steve said. “The mask can last for about 90 days, and then, after a while, the mask starts unraveling, and I just try to wait on that period. Sometimes they make it, sometimes they don’t.”

However, Steve also asserted that he could usually tell what someone’s true intentions are when they’re invited into the Harvey household.

“But if you come in the house, and I know right off the top that you’re just not a good guy, I start the reading process right away,” he said. “I don’t say nothing to my daughter, I just, behind the scenes, I start working toward getting rid of this guy.”

“The person you choose to spend your life with is probably the most important decision you’ll ever make. That relationship becomes an elevator. It can take you up or it can take you down, so choose wisely,” Steve added.
