Nicki Minaj Admitted Lil Wayne’s Jokes About Her Body Led Her to Get Butt Injections
Superstar rapper Nicki Minaj has been known for having a large derrière for years, even turning her “big fat a**” into a worldwide smash in 2014 with her hit single “Anaconda.” And while Minaj has celebrated her behind for years, she also admitted that it arose from a difficult place.
Nicki Minaj has been known for her rear end
Nicki Minaj first rose to prominence in the late 2000s with projects such as Beam Me Up Scotty and the collaborative Lil Wayne mixtape Sucka Free. As she became a household name with her 2010 debut album Pink Friday, she made no secret about her big behind.
She rapped in her own songs as well as in verses on other artists’ songs about her butt, with lines like “Only time you on the Net is when you Google my a**” and mentions of “a** shots” referencing her large behind.
Nicki admitted Lil Wayne influenced her to get butt injections
It turns out that Minaj rapping about big butts from the early days of her career was a result of situations that she had been placed in at the time. In March 2022, the “Anaconda” rapper sat down with Joe Budden for a wide-ranging interview. At one point, she discusses what led her to seek out cosmetic procedures to enhance her backside.
“Social media was just beginning when I started so I was a lot of people’s guinea pigs. I was one of the first people to be s***ted on on the Internet,” she said. “It wasn’t acceptable to have surgery at all or anything and at that time, I had never had surgery. I had a** shots, which, to this day, I realize even with me not consulting with anyone to do something like that, how insane that was.”
Minaj went on to explain Lil Wayne’s role in her deciding to modify her body. “Actually what happened was I kept on being around [Lil] Wayne and them. At that time, you know Wayne, he’s always talking about big booties… Wayne would have a new chick in the studio every session. So they were his muses but I just was around them all the time and I was like the little sister,” she recalled. “This is what you’re supposed to look like in the rap culture and I don’t look like that.”
Budden then asked if she was pressured into changing her body, which Minaj denied at first before backtracking. “No! They never told me that. Well, no. I’m lying,” she confessed. “I think Wayne, I think they said stuff sometimes jokingly but to a young girl or up-and-coming rapper, when it’s from someone like Lil Wayne, it matters. Even if they’re joking, they don’t know that the person that is there in that room with them is not finding it funny.”
Nicki is a proud mom now
In a February 2022 interview on The Dana Cortez Show, Minaj revealed that writing X-rated lyrics isn’t something she cares for that much anymore. While she was pregnant with her son, she was approached about doing a guest verse on Gunna’s song “P Power,” but turned it down because it didn’t feel right for her.
“I couldn’t bring myself to put out a song about p**** and d*** and sucking and eating,” she admitted. “I couldn’t bring myself to put a record out like that while my son was growing in my body.”
“As a woman, as a mother, you have every right to make that choice,” she added. “You decide what’s comfortable and convenient for you when you are with child.”
