Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s Daughters Aren’t Impressed by Award Shows
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s daughters rarely make public appearances, but that wasn’t the case at the 2021 Golden Globes. Kidman and Urban’s kids joined their parents for a rare joint appearance at the award ceremony on Feb. 28, but as it turns out, they couldn’t be less interested in their parents’ many accolades.
Who are Nicole Kidman’s daughters?
The famous couple shares two daughters—Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 12, and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, 10. The actor and singer keep their daughters out of the public eye by avoiding public appearances with them and choosing not to frequently comment about them in interviews.
While infrequent, the Moulin Rouge star and the country singer do share some updates about their kids. In an October 2020 interview on Loose Women, Kidman shared why she won’t let Sunday have an Instagram account. She said:
“Because I’m not very techie myself so it’s very hard for me to monitor it and stay on it and not have them—I won’t let them be on Instagram. I won’t let them—you know and I have a 12-year-old right now who’s chomping at the bit wanting to like get into all that and I’m like, ‘No, no no.’”
“It’s just that constant push/pull,” Kidman continued. “I would say a lot of parents would say the same thing. Am I right?”
Kidman’s two children with ex-husband Tom Cruise, Bella Kidman Cruise, 28, and Connor Cruise, 26, are both on Instagram.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s kids made a rare joint appearance at the 2021 Golden Globes
Kidman was nominated for her 15th Golden Globe at the virtual ceremony, which Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted. She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her performance in HBO’s The Undoing. And the hilarious hosts added a playful jab about Kidman into their opening monologue.
“The Undoing was a sexy and dramatic mystery where Nicole Kidman’s coat is suspected of murdering her wig,” Poehler quipped.
Many stars took this year’s remote Golden Globes as an opportunity to get dressed up at home.
For her part, Kidman was dolled up in a black and gold gown with a curly updo, and Urban wore a black suit. Their daughters both wore white dresses and sat with their parents on a couch in their home, and they all got a good chuckle out of Poehler’s joke.
The family of four appeared again when Kidman’s category was announced. The Oscar winner was up against Cate Blanchett, Shira Haas, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anya Taylor-Joy, and Taylor-Joy ended up winning for The Queen’s Gambit.
Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban have their own parties during award shows
Kidman and Urban are used to winning awards. For her part, Kidman has an Oscar, four Golden Globes, and an Emmy under her belt. As for Urban, he has won four Grammys and snagged his own Golden Globe nomination in 2013. But their kids couldn’t be less impressed by award shows.
At the 2019 Golden Globes, Kidman and Urban told Access that their daughters were less interested in the ceremony and more interested in having friends over while mom and dad were out.
“They have some friends over and they’re having their own little party,” Kidman shared.
“Globes party, yes,” Urban chimed in.
Kidman revealed she actually prefers for her kids not to care about award shows. She said:
“They were like, ‘Yeah, yeah, bye.’ Which is a great thing because I want their memory of us going out and doing things like this to be that they were having their own parties.”
At the 2019 AACTA Awards, Kidman said there’s one part of the yearly events that piques her daughters’ interests.
“They’re sometimes interested [in helping me get ready] and sometimes not,” Kidman told Us Weekly. “It depends on what toys they’re playing with and what play dates they have over.”
This just goes to show how hilarious kids are. Their mom is The Nicole Kidman and they’re just like, “Uh, cool? Can my friends come over at 6?”
