Nicole Kidman Made an Interview Awkward by Telling the Host They’d Been on a Date
Fans of Nicole Kidman know about her relationship with her country-music star husband, Keith Urban. The two married in 2006, making them one of the most solid couples in Hollywood. Although Kidman and Urban are happily married, he’s not the only famous man she’s dated. In a 2015 interview with talk show host Jimmy Fallon, Kidman revealed they’d sort of been on a date — much to Fallon’s surprise.
What did Nicole Kidman tell Jimmy Fallon about their ill-fated date?
In early 2015, Kidman appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And they discussed the first time they met. Fallon recalled Kidman asked, through a mutual friend, to meet him for a possible feature in her movie Bewitched. He was shocked but jumped at the chance to meet the star. “I just remember I liked you,” Kidman responded, claiming that the mutual friend set up the meeting at Fallon’s then-apartment as a possible romantic encounter.
Fallon, looking utterly shocked. “Did I date Nicole Kidman?! Was that a date?!” he asked. Kidman laughed, describing how Fallon “didn’t talk” during their meeting and spent it playing a video game. Both stars dissolved into a laughing fit, with Kidman ending the story by stating she thought Fallon had “no interest” in her and that she decided to shelve the idea of any future romance with the comedian.

Obviously, the pair can laugh about this now, given their current circumstances. While Fallon told Kidman it was a “great decision” for her to marry Urban instead, he’s also in a solid relationship.
Kidman and Urban began dating in 2005, tying the knot in 2006. Kidman once shared she fell for him quickly, but Urban took some time before he reached out to her. The two later welcomed two daughters, and despite going through a lot together, they remain happy.
As for Fallon, he married producer Nancy Juvonen in December 2007. They worked together on Saturday Night Live, later reconnecting on the film Fever Pitch. Like Kidman and Urban, they have two daughters.

Through all the changes in Fallon and Kidman’s lives over the years (and the awkwardness of their initial meeting), they have remained friends. In 2016, Kidman again appeared on Fallon’s show, this time bringing her husband, Urban. In a hilarious bit of comedy, Kidman and Fallon started to reminisce about her previous visit to the show when Urban burst onstage, singing for Fallon and the assembled studio audience. Fallon and Kidman both started laughing, proving there are nothing but good feelings between them.
Again in 2021, Kidman appeared on The Tonight Show, this time via video stream while she supported Urban during his tour. Fallon complimented Kidman on her work in the miniseries The Undoing, calling Kidman’s performance “genius” and noting, “You are fantastic in this. Unbelievable.” For Fallon and Kidman, the romance didn’t work out, but their friendship is going strong.
