Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi Responds To a Fan Who Says She Needs To ‘Come Out About Being Adopted’
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is clapping back after a fan slammed her for not being open about being adopted. The critical comment came as the Jersey Shore star posted about celebrating her oldest son’s eighth birthday. Though the follower tried to take aim at Snooki for supposedly hiding her adoption, the mom of three wasn’t having it.
Critic says Snooki needs to be open about her heritage
As many of her fans know, Polizzi was born in Chile in 1987 and later adopted by an Italian-American couple from New York. Her adoption has never been a secret, but one critic apparently thought the MTV star was hiding her heritage.
“You need to come out about being adopted and stand up and be the voice of other adopted Mexican women! Be proud of your biological race,” the person — who mistakenly believed Polizzi was born in Mexico, not Chile — wrote in a comment on Snooki’s August 27 Instagram post.
Snooki says she ‘always’ talks about her adoption story
Snooki quickly replied to the confused commenter. She set the record straight about where she was born and made it clear she was not ashamed to talk about being adopted.
“Where have you been? I always talk about it,” she wrote. “I’m from Santiago, Chile. Adopted at 6 months. Never was shy to talk about and always talk about my story. I even did it on my YouTube. Check it out.”
Snooki says her adoption was ‘meant to be’
Back in 2018, Snooki shared a video on her YouTube channel where she shared more details about her adoption, saying “it was meant to be.”
“I don’t really talk about it because I just feel like my family’s my family,” Polizzi said. She added that she was “so content” with her life and doesn’t even like using the term “adoptive parents.”
“Ew, I hate saying ‘adoptive parents’ because they’re my parents,” she said.
The Jersey Shore Family Vacation star went on to share that she “always knew” she was adopted. As a teen, she began to wonder why her birth parents gave her up for adoption and whether she had any siblings. But when she asked her parents questions, they would get “upset.”
When she was in her early 20s, Snooki says she got her dad drunk and got him to reveal more details about why she was adopted. He explained that her biological parents had several other children. When Snooki was born, they felt they could not afford to take care of her.
“That shows how much they loved me,” she said of her birth mother and father.

Now that she’s older, Snooki says she’d “definitely” be open to meeting her birth family.
Though she is curious about her origins, the Snooki & JWoww star has nothing but love for her adoptive parents. She said she feels “blessed” and that they gave her an “amazing life.” But she does have one big question.
“I always wonder, if I never was adopted and I stayed with my birth parents, would I still be a hot mess like this, just in Spanish?” she asked. “Probably. I feel like I was always meant to be this hot mess.”
