MTV ‘Cribs’ will return on August 11

Cribs is coming back,” MTV shared on July 14. It’s been nearly 20 years since the original series became a pop-culture phenomenon.

“Cribs didn’t simply introduce the celebreality genre,” says Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer, MTV Entertainment Group. “It created a blueprint for how we engage on social media. We are thrilled to usher in a new era of this iconic franchise for audiences around the world.”

The network is once again inviting fans into the homes of their favorite celebrities like Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Polizzi. Tune in to the premiere of Cribs on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 9:30 PM EST.

MTV ‘Cribs’ reboot will follow the original format

When Cribs debuted in 2000, the show gave viewers an inside peek at celebrity residences. Running for 13 seasons, Cribs showed fans the most intimate spaces of roughly 185 celebrity homes, include their rooms of wall-to-wall collectibles, multiple-car garages, and of course, their refrigerators.

The Cribs reboot will follow the format fans love from the original series. Celebs will greet the cameras at their front door using the iconic phrasing “Welcome to my crib,” then show viewers around their lavish estates.

“MTV Cribs continues to connect our worldwide audiences with their favorite stars as they welcome us into their homes for an exclusive tour,” Orr tells Variety. “This is pure property porn escapism at its most fabulous.”
