Niecy Nash Went on a Double Date With Da Brat
Niecy Nash has endeared fans both on and off screen over the past two decades. The Emmy-winning actor is known for her real-life personality, and in 2020, her personal life became a subject of discussion when it was revealed she had divorced her husband Jay Tucker and married musician Jessica Betts.

Nash and Betts first acknowledged their friendship back in 2018 when Betts appeared on Nash’s popular show Claws. Betts is a singer and songwriter who has worked with the likes of Missy Elliott, and even won Elliott’s short lived competition show The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott.
The two tied the knot in August 2020, and since then, they haven’t been shy about their newlywed love on social media. Nash frequently shares pictures of them together on her Instagram, as does Betts.
“When two Betts are better than one!” Nash captioned one photo of the couple together. “Find something to be thankful for today.” In another wife appreciation post, Nash called Betts “My Piece and My Peace.”

Nash is in the middle of filming the final season of Claws, and she took some time while in New Orleans to meet up with a good friend of hers. Nash and Betts met up for a double dinner date with Grammy-nominated rapper Da Brat and her girlfriend, entrepreneur Jesseca Dupart.
Nash shared photos and videos of their evening together on Instagram. “LOVE WINS,” Nash captioned the post, saying the four were “sharing energy” together over dinner.
In one video, Nash called Dupart her “good Judy” as a reference to their friendship as well as Dupart’s Instagram handle.
Another video showed Nash and Betts after their double date with Da Brat and Dupart. “I had such an amazing dinner with this cutie pie right here,” Nash said with Betts next to her.
Niecy Nash and Da Brat’s relationships have something in common
Interestingly enough, both Nash and Da Brat’s have something in common — besides them both happening to date someone named Jessica/Jesseca. Both Nash and Da Brat publicly acknowledged their sexuality in 2020, and their current relationships are the first public same-sex relationships that they’ve been in.
When Dupart gifted her with a custom Bentley for her birthday in March, Da Brat expressed her love for her partner in an Instagram post and explained that it took a lot for her to speak publicly about their relationship. “Needless to say… I’ve always been a kind of private person until I met my heart’s match who handles some things differently than I do,” the rapper said.
Da Brat spoke about her journey to living openly in an appearance on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show a few days later. “I never confirmed anything because in the ’90s, it wasn’t cool back in the day,” she said. “I’m a little bit nervous because I’m not really used to talking about this thing because I’m really not a public person when it comes to my personal life. But when you get blessed and somebody when you weren’t even looking for nobody loves you like you’ve never been loved before, it’s a whole different experience.”
Da Brat went on to gush about Dupart, herself a savvy businesswoman and CEO of her own haircare company. “She inspires me, she believes in me, she motivates me, she accepts me for who I am — my past, my faults, mistakes,” she said. “We can talk about anything and everything. There’s nothing I can’t talk about with her and it’s just amazing.”
