Nine Perfect Strangers features a unique ensemble cast. Since the series takes place at a remote wellness resort, there aren’t a ton of characters in Nine Perfect Strangers. This allowed the cast to get pretty close. Executive producer Nicole Kidman starred as Masha in the Hulu series. This marked Kidman’s first time working alongside Melissa McCarthy, though the pair had met before. The cast of Nine Perfect Strangers occasionally goofed around off-camera. McCarthy even scared the daylights out of Kidman by pranking her with an old man mask.

‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ features a small cast

The cast of Nine Perfect Strangers seems to have got along quite well off-camera. McCarthy and Bobby Cannavale had worked together previously on several movies. However, even the actors who had never met each other seemed to get along great. “It’s such a good group,” McCarthy said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Though McCarthy had met Kidman, the two had never worked together before the series. McCarthy was delighted to find that Kidman was goofy and down to earth. “There’s something so regal about her. You expect her to be like, ‘Hello, I’m Nicole Kidman,'” McCarthy told Jimmy Fallon. “And then you really get to know her and you’re like, ‘She’s weird!’ She’s like a wonderful weirdo.”

McCarthy pranked Kidman with an old man mask

Filming for Nine Perfect Strangers wrapped back in 2020. Now every episode of Nine Perfect Strangers is finally available on Hulu. After filming ended, McCarthy decided to play a prank on Kidman, which Access Hollywood has posted on YouTube. She approached her wearing an old man mask complete with white hair, eyebrows, and mustache. Kidman was hugging the cast and crew while celebrating finishing the Hulu series. McCarthy went in for a hug.

Kidman let out a scream that turned into laughter. “I told you I’ll just hug anyone,” she said, going in for a hug with the masked figure. Kidman cracked up when McCarthy took of the mask to reveal her face. “I was scared!” she said after the two hugged.

Fans react to McCarthy’s prank and the end of ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’

You are one of a kind!” a fan commented on the video. One fan simply noted “the fear in her eyes” with a crying laughing emoji in reference to Kidman’s reaction.

McCarthy captioned the video with the announcement that the Nine Perfect Strangers finale would air the next day. Many fans were disappointed to see the series come to an end so quickly. “Finale?!?!?! Nooooooooooo! I’m not ready!” a fan commented. Kidman and McCarthy’s journey on Nine Perfect Strangers is over, but hopefully these two talented actors will have the chance to work together again.
