An Update on Nipsey Hussle’s Alleged Killer’s Murder Trial
It’s been nearly three years since Nipsey Hussle was gunned down outside of his LA clothing store. Hussle’s death rocked the music industry and his fans remain in mourning and await answers. His alleged killer, Eric Holder, is set to begin trial in just a few months. Holder is denying any involvement in the crime.
Eric Holder is reportedly nervous about the outcome of the trial
An LA County judge recently set Holder’s trial for January 2022. The trial has been delayed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, the previous judge in the trial retired and Holder’s former attorney, Christopher Darden, resigned from the trial amid receiving threats and harassing messages for taking the case.
Video footage shows a man allegedly identified as Holder shooting Hussle outside of his LA clothing store. Holder also allegedly kicked the rapper in the head after shooting him. Investigators say Holder and Hussle exchanged words and Hussle allegedly referred to Holder as being a “snitch” before Holder returned with a gun.
Holder has pleaded not guilty. His charges include one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of felony possession of a firearm. His laywer claims that Holder is “nervous, but he knows it’s time to get the case moving to trial”.
Holder allegedly also has a history of mental health issues. “He does have a significant mental health history,” his lawyer previously said, per The Jasmine Brand. “One of the things affecting him [in March 2019] was that his mother had just passed away. He was pretty despondent.”
Nipsey Hussle’s family and estate have been focused on several projects
In addition to preparing to attend his upcoming alleged killer’s trial, Hussle’s family has continued working on various projects the late rapper had in motion before his murder. His popular LA clothing store Marathon was temporarily closed due to the store being turned into a memorial by fans. Merchandise can still be purchased online.
Hussle’s longtime partner, Lauren London, worked with PUMA to help promote a collection Hussle and the brand had in place before his death. Hussle and Groovey Lew collaborated on several “unique, one-of-a-kind looks,” per the website. Hussle also designed the logo himself for a collection dedicated to Miami, one of his favorite cities.

London later collaborated with PUMA on her own collection “Forever Stronger,” a dedication to Hussle and her hometown on LA. Of the collection, London said: “I am so grateful and proud to drop my first collection with my PUMA family. I wanted to make sure that each piece was authentic to who I am and my style. This collection expresses a constant reminder that through it all, no matter what happens in life, may we be Forever Stronger.”
Since his death, there have been several tributes to his contributions to music and entrepreneurship. He also won a Grammy for music featured on his one and only full-length studio album Victory Lap. The album has since been certified platinum.
