Fifteen years after Oasis broke up, Liam and Noel Gallagher have announced their plans to reunite for a summer tour. The band made headlines multiple times while they were together for the vicious feud between the Gallagher brothers. After fifteen years together, Noel realized he’d had enough of working with his sibling. He shared his final straw.

Noel Gallagher shared when he realized he had to leave Oasis

Oasis broke up in 2009, when Noel announced he no longer wanted to be in the group. This announcement came after a vicious fight backstage at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. The band began arguing over an ad for Liam’s clothing line, Pretty Green, in the program for the festival. It didn’t take long for it to escalate. Soon, it turned violent.

“[Liam swung a guitar] like an axe … and he’s swinging this guitar around and he kind of you know, he took my face off with it, you know?” Noel told the Associated Press, per NBC News Chicago.

That same day, Noel announced his decision to leave the band.

“People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer,” he wrote in a statement.

He said the conversation about the ad had been his final straw after years of tense band relations.

“I had enough when Liam and Bonehead [Paul Arthurs] — this is true — started arguing over a leather jacket,” he said, per Rolling Stone. “I am not even kidding.”

Noel and Liam Gallagher are reuniting for an Oasis reunion tour

Fifteen years after this argument, Oasis is reuniting for a tour in the summer of 2025. They will play 14 shows in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

“The guns have fallen silent,” Oasis said on social media. “The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

Liam Gallagher said he hoped they could reconcile

In 2019, Liam spoke of his willingness to reconcile with his brother.

“The most important thing is about me and him being brothers. I’ve got another brother who he doesn’t speak to. It would be nice if all three of us would be together,” he told the Associated Press. “Obviously, our mum is still alive, so she gets upset about it. He thinks I’m desperate to get the band back together for money. But I didn’t join the band to make money. I joined the band to have fun and to see the world.”

Liam said that he struggled to understand why Noel was so mad at him.

“[I want] just for me and him to go for a beer. Shoot some (expletive) and get off whatever’s on his chest off because I don’t think we should have split up over a big argument,” he said, adding, “I mean, I didn’t kick his cat. I didn’t try hugging up with his Mrs. or anything like that. I don’t know what his problem is.”

With their tour announcement, it appears that they’ve set aside their differences for now.
