‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’: When Is the Finale on Disney+? Episode 6 Release Date and Time
Obi-Wan Kenobi is filling in the gaps between the Star Wars prequels and the original trilogy, but the Disney+ series is officially approaching its end. Next week’s installment promises to close the door on this chapter of Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) and Darth Vader’s (Hayden Christensen) relationship. But what is the release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6, and what can fans expect from the finale?
[Warning: This article contains spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 5.]
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Episode 5 sets up a tense finale
Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 5 delivered an action-packed, intense installment ahead of the Disney+ show’s finale. Not only did the latest chapter reveal Reva’s (Moses Ingram) true motivations for getting close to Darth Vader, but it saw Obi-Wan and his allies making another escape from the Empire. Sadly, this time, it was without Tala (Indra Varma) in tow. Varma’s character sacrifices herself while trying to get her people off of Jabiim.
And with help from Obi-Wan and Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair), the group successfully gets away from Darth Vader — even after he uses the Force to pull back their ship. Of course, he has other problems to deal with during this week’s episode. Although he was looking for a fight with Obi-Wan, he gets one with Reva instead. The fifth installment confirms that she was one of the Younglings who survived Order 66. And she’s got it out for Anakin Skywalker.
Sadly, Reva’s revenge doesn’t unfold as she hoped. In fact, Vader takes her down fairly easily, leaving her on Jabiim with a hole in her stomach. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like Reva’s dead. As the Grand Inquisitor tells her before taking back his badge, revenge keeps people going. And the final moments of the episode see Reva learning about Luke (Grant Feely) from a comlink — meaning she can continue her crusade against Obi-Wan and Anakin.
We don’t know if Reva has pieced together who, exactly, Luke and Leia are at this point. Still, the final shot of Luke suggests she’ll head to Tatooine next. That’s a worrisome prospect. We’ll have to wait for Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6’s release date to learn how he and his family get out of that situation unscathed. When does it arrive on Disney+?
When does the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ finale come out on Disney+? Episode 6 release date and time
With Luke Skywalker likely in danger, Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6 can’t get here soon enough — so, when is the release date for the big finale?
Like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi streams on Disney+ every Wednesday. That places the final chapter’s release date on June 22. Each installment hits the platform around 12:01 a.m. PST or 3 a.m. EST. Those committed to avoiding spoilers will have to stay up — or stay offline — to do so.
And although we know where most of these characters end up in Star Wars canon, it sounds like episode 6 will have plenty of spoiler fodder. For one, it needs to determine Reva’s fate. That on its own is enough to have fans tuning in.
Of course, the final chapter also needs to set the stage for everything to come. What can we expect heading into it? Here’s what we know.
What to expect when episode 6 drops on Disney+
With the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale within reach, what can viewers expect on episode 6’s release date? Unfortunately, fans have no previews, stills, or synopses to draw information from. But that final shot of Luke promises to bring Obi-Wan back to Tatooine. Will Reva use the child against him or Vader? It seems incredibly likely.
Leia also needs to make it back to Alderaan — and we know from the original trilogy that she does. Hopefully, she’ll be out of the Empire’s sights now that Reva’s got a new target. Darth Vader also seems preoccupied with his own vendetta against Obi-Wan.
Judging by this week’s flashbacks — and all the hype about their reunion — we’ll probably get one last encounter between Obi-Wan and Vader as well. With any luck, that means more Lightsaber fights. We can hope, can’t we?
Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6 arrives on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 22. The rest of the episodes are available to stream ahead of the finale.
