‘Off The Beat’: A New Podcast From ‘The Office’ Star Brian Baumgartner Starts Tomorrow
The Office star Brian Baumgartner is back with another podcast. First, he took fans on a journey through the making and success of the NBC comedy series in An Oral History of The Office. Then, Baumgartner introduced The Office Deep Dive podcast, sharing his full-length interviews with The Office cast, crew, and production team. Now, Baumgartner is bringing fans Off The Beat. Find out what the new show is about, when it starts, and who Baumgartner’s first guest is.
Brian Baumgartner is interviewing more comedy stars in the ‘Off The Beat’ podcast
An Oral History of The Office and The Office Deep Dive were born out of curiosity. Baumgartner wanted to understand why nearly 10 years after The Office ended, it remained popular with fans old and new, garnering billions of streams in 2020 alone.
According to the trailer, Off The Beat will take the same “in-depth conversation” style to dive deep into even more comedy shows. “You’ll hear from your favorite TV stars before they were stars and learn what was really going on behind the scenes,” Baumgartner says in the trailer.
Baumgartner’s Office co-stars like David Koechner, Amy Ryan, and John Krasinski are also in the trailer. Fans can expect to hear more from them as well as new guests.
When does the ‘Off The Beat’ podcast start?
The first episode of Off The Beat will release on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022. Like his previous shows, new episodes of the podcast will release weekly on Tuesdays. Fans can listen via iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever they stream podcasts.
‘How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan is Brian Baumgartner’s first guest on ‘Off The Beat’
Showbiz Cheat Sheet connected with iHeartRadio to get more details about Baumgartner’s podcast. How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan will be his first guest.
“Brian sits down for his first Off The Beat interview with the legen — wait for it — dary Alyson Hannigan AKA Lily Aldrin from How I Met Your Mother,” the episode description reads. “They take it all the way back to her days fighting demons, the time a few too many iced teas landed her an iconic role, and her auditioning faux pas that could have cost Jason Segel his role as Marshall.”
Brian Baumgartner’s new podcast is based on timing in comedy
The comedy style in The Office is unconventional, but it works because the jokes are delivered when fans least expect them, or “off the beat.” That tactic is what inspired the name of Baumgartner’s latest podcast.
“As one of my comedy teachers told me, the best moments in comedy and in life happen off the beat in the most unexpected of times,” Baumgartner teases in the trailer. “That’s what I want to explore in this new podcast and with my guests. Come Off The Beat and learn everything you never wanted to know about your favorite stars.”
