Quarterback C.J. Stroud played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes before he was selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He made an immediate impact during his first year with the team including leading the franchise to its first playoff berth since 2019.
Since then, C.J. has continued to shine on the field becoming one of the most exciting players to watch and now fans want to know more about the Texans signal-caller.
C.J. Stroud’s age
C.J. was born to parents Kimberly and Coleridge Bernard Stroud III on Oct. 3, 2001, in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He has three older siblings Isaiah, Asmar, and Ciara. Their mother filed for divorce from their father in 2012 and Coleridge is currently serving a 38-year prison sentence after being convicted on charges of carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, and misdemeanor sexual battery.
Kimberly raised her children as a single working mother and the family struggled financially. Throughout the ups and downs of his childhood, C.J. continued to focus on athletics. When he was 12, he received a call from Priest Brooks, a former rapper and producer with Death Row Records. At the time, Brooks was coaching the Pomona Steelers in the Snoop Youth Football League, which was founded by rap icon Snoop Dogg.
“Kids in other communities didn’t have football that met the prices that their mothers could afford,” Snoop told ESPN about the youth league he started. “At the same time opening up to other kids as well. But the initial thought was to help out the urban inner-city and give them opportunities to play.”
The youth league taught C.J. invaluable lessons and how to build relationships with his teammates.
He recalled: “I started hanging out with guys off the field, my mom would have kids come over and spend the night. She would allow me to go over to their houses. It was good for me to learn, this is how you build a brotherhood. I wasn’t even thinking about that back then. But now that I’m older, that’s what that was.”
In high school C.J. was named offensive player of the year, MVP of the Elite 11, and selected to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl before he committed to Ohio State.
