Neve Campbell remains best known to some as Sidney Prescott from the beloved Scream franchise. But she’s also known for movies like The Craft and Wild Things. In recent years, the Party of Five star turned her focus back to the small screen, acting in shows such as House of Cards.
In 2011, Campbell started dating British-American actor JJ Feild, following her second divorce. Feild started his career acting in BBC television shows, and by the early 2000s, began landing roles in high-profile movies like Captain America: The First Avenger. In August 2012, Campbell and Feild welcomed their first child: A son named Caspian Feild. But they have another child, too.
Campbell adopted a baby boy in 2018
In 2018, the actors expanded their family by adopting a little boy named Raynor. To celebrate his adoption, Campbell took to Instagram to share the big news about her children with her followers.
In her post, Campbell wrote, “So it’s been a secret up until now as JJ and I wanted to wait until it was official but we adopted a beautiful baby boy 5 months ago. His name is Raynor and we are madly in love with him. Our 6 year old son Caspian is over the moon and asks every morning ‘Can I hold my baby? Can I feed my baby? Can I play with my baby.'”
Being a working mom requires some balance. “It depends on the project [whether I bring my kids] and how many hours I am going to be doing and how present I’m going to be,” she told KIIS FM (via The Daily Mail). But notably, Campbell’s children, now nine (Caspian) and three (Raynor) joined her on the Scream set.
What has Campbell said about being a mother?
Over the years, Neve Campbell has opened up about the challenges of being a mom, even though she generally prefers to keep her children out of the spotlight. In particular, the actor maintains transparency surrounding her beliefs that paid family leave should be an option for everyone.
In a 2016 interview with Insider, Campbell said, “I think both males and females should have the opportunity to connect and bond with their child and not be persecuted for that by not getting paid, and having your lifestyle have to go down a bit, or struggle because you’re choosing to spend time as a family.”
During that same interview, Campbell opened up about choosing to spend time with her children rather than work for a time. “I, as a mom, wanted to be really present for my son in the first couple of years,” she said. “Because I know that those years are very important for a kid.”
