John Mulaney and Olivia Munn have expanded their family, announcing the birth of their second child. The controversial couple took to Instagram to announce that they welcomed their second child, this time via surrogacy, earlier this month. The family of four appears happy and healthy. Still, former Mulaney fans were quick to point out that the big announcement came just after Anna Marie Tendler, Mulaney’s first wife, published her memoir.

John Mulaney and Olivia Munn took to Instagram to reveal they had been keeping a secret for many months. The couple shared a picture of their daughter, Mei. Mei was born via a surrogate on Sept. 14. Mulaney insists he’s thrilled to be a father for the second time, and based on the pictures shared, the family certainly does look happy.
This is Munn and Mulaney’s second child together. The duo welcomed their son, Malcolm, in December 2021. Mulaney’s first child was born weeks before he finalized his divorce from his first wife, Anna Marie Tendler. Mulaney’s rehab stint, divorce, and quick rebound with Olivia Munn were topics of debate even as he welcomed a child with The Newsroom star.

Mulaney and Munn’s big news came about a month after Mulaney’s ex-wife, Anna Marie Tendler, released a memoir. Men Have Called Her Crazy covers Tendler’s experience inside a psychiatric facility in Connecticut and what she learned about her relationship with men during her stay. While the book covered most of Tendler’s life, including the years she was involved with and married to Mulaney, he was never mentioned.
In fact, Tendler openly discussed every other major romantic relationship she had but completely skated over her marriage to the comedian. His name was so obviously absent that fans think there had to be a reason. Some fans suspect Tendler was legally unable to discuss her marriage to the famed comedian as a stipulation of a divorce settlement. Tendler has not confirmed whether she was bound by an NDA. It is unclear if she received a settlement.
Mulaney and Tendler were married when the comedian entered a rehab facility in Pennsylvania in 2020. Upon his release, he announced the end of his marriage. He started dating Munn, whom he had met at an event he attended with Tendler, immediately. A short time later, he announced they were expecting their first child. While Munn and Mulaney are very public about their relationship, Tendler has kept her recent romantic life private. John Mulaney and Anna Marie Tendler did not have a child together.
