Rodrigo’s contemporaries like Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift were quick to vocalize their advice and support. She even received dating advice from the musical icon Alanis Morissette. Still, Rodrigo admits watching people dissect her love life on social media was weird for her.

Social media speculation

The bulk of Rodrigo’s debut album Sour discusses love, breakups, and heartache. The teen singer thought the album would resonate with her peers who were going through similar situations but quickly discovered matters of the heart cross over all generations.

Rodrigo isn’t ashamed of opening up and being vulnerable with her songs. “Driver’s License” is still her favorite song that she has written because she feels it showcases her best. Still, she has found it odd the way strangers dissect her teenage love life.

In an interview with GQ, Rodrigo addressed her feelings on TikTok’s theories saying:

“I try not to look at stuff like that, to be completely honest. I like to think that if there’s actually something that I should know about, my team would tell me. It was really hard for me to watch people on TikTok and stuff that dissects my 17-year-old love life. That was really weird. But again, I think I understood the curiosity. It doesn’t affect me; it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t affect my songwriting and my life.”

Who has Rodrigo dated?

Despite Rodrigo’s feelings pertaining to others dissecting her love life, theories still abound. The biggest theory was that Sour is about Rodrigo’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-star, Joshua Bassett. Neither Rodrigo nor Bassett have confirmed or denied the claims.

The theory goes that Bassett left Rodrigo for another Disney star, Sabrina Carpenter. Adding fuel to the flames, after the success of “Driver’s License,” Bassett released a single called “Lie Lie Lie.” Carpenter also released a single entitled “Skin,” which seemingly directly addressed lyrics in Rodrigo’s songs “Deja Vu” and “Driver’s License.”

Whether there is any truth in the Disney Channel love triangle, the trio has certainly caught a lot of fans’ attention. They also all appear to have moved on. While there have been spotting of Bassett and Carpenter together, the duo has still not confirmed or denied a relationship.

Either way, Rodrigo has definitely moved on with the young film producer, Adam Faze. The couple has been spotted around Los Angeles, even locking lips while resting against a car. Perhaps fans will learn more when Rodrigo releases her next album, which fans are speculating could be titled Sweet.

Rodrigo’s rise to fame

Although Olivia Rodrigo became a household name in 2021, she has been involved in the entertainment industry since she was 10 years old.

The singer initially found success in niche movies and commercials but gained considerable success when she acted on Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark. It was in this series that Rodrigo initially had the opportunity to showcase her musical abilities.
