One Chicago Holiday: Will ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 and ‘Chicago Med’ Season 7 Get Holiday Episodes?
One Chicago fans are gearing up for a long break from Chicago P.D. Season 9, Chicago Fire Season 10, and Chicago Med Season 7. Sadly, this means major storylines from all three shows will remain on hold until the shows return from the holiday break. But the Chicago Fire showrunner said the series will get a special holiday episode for episode 9. Will Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med also get holiday episodes? Here’s what we know about the One Chicago holiday specials coming in 2021.
‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 Episode 9 will reportedly be a holiday episode
Fans can’t wait to see any and all One Chicago holiday specials that air in 2021. And Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 9 will certainly be one for the books. Showrunner Derek Haas talked to TVLine about what fans can expect from the upcoming holiday episode.
“For the first time in years, as long as I can remember, we’re doing a holiday episode,” Haas explained. “Episode 9 is going to make the Hallmark Channel jealous of our holiday episode.”
Because of the One Chicago holiday break, Haas noted episode 9, which is set to air on either Dec. 1, 2021, or Dec. 8, 2021, is “kind of on this island by itself, so we thought, ‘Hmm, maybe we could do a holiday episode’ — and I wrote it.”
Haas remains tight-lipped as to what fans can expect from the Chicago Fire holiday event. But he did give a clue that Stella Kidd will return before the 2021 year ends, which makes us think he’ll feature her epic return in the special episode.
Will ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 or ‘Chicago Med’ Season 7 get holiday episodes?
With all this talk about One Chicago holiday events and Chicago Fire Season 10’s special holiday episode, what’s going on with Chicago P.D. Season 9 and Chicago Med Season 7?
So far, it doesn’t seem like either show will get a special holiday event of its own. Given what we know so far of P.D. and Med, it looks like both shows are gearing up for their fall season finales as a number of storylines are coming to an end. Additionally, Chicago Fire historically has had successful holiday episodes in the past. Perhaps the show creators think the Chicago Fire storylines are more easily adapted to a holiday theme than P.D. and Med.
The showrunners for P.D. and Med could surprise us with a last-minute holiday surprise in 2021, of course. But fans should anticipate the fall finales for all three shows airing on Dec. 8, 2021.
When are the One Chicago shows returning in 2022?
Fans can anticipate explosive fall finales from Chicago P.D. Season 9, Chicago Fire Season 10, and Chicago Med Season 7. It seems all of the finales will happen midway through December on Dec. 8, 2021, One Chicago Center reports.
After the fall finales, fans are without One Chicago content until 2022. So, when are the shows returning? According to the publication, it sounds like as soon as the new year begins, fans can anticipate the three shows returning immediately to the Wednesday slot. Jan. 5, 2022, might be the date to watch, though NBC hasn’t confirmed the date just yet.
Chicago Med Season 7 airs at 8 p.m. EST, Chicago Fire Season 10 airs at 9 p.m. EST, and Chicago P.D. Season 9 airs at 10 p.m. EST on Wednesdays only on NBC.
