One Chicago News: Current ‘Chicago P.D.,’ ‘Chicago Med,’ and ‘Chicago Fire’ Seasons Get 10 More New Episodes
NBC’s One Chicago fans can’t wait to see more of Chicago P.D. Season 9, Chicago Med Season 7, and Chicago Fire Season 10. The shows are currently on their winter hiatus, but there’s good news for fans. All three One Chicago shows will return with plenty of new episodes. Here’s the latest on how many more episodes the shows will have once they return.
NBC’s One Chicago shows will reportedly get 10 more new episodes once they return from break
Chicago P.D. Season 9, Chicago Med Season 7, and Chicago Fire Season 10 all left off on cliffhangers prior to the February hiatus. And fans can’t wait to see what’s coming next. While some viewers assumed the season would end soon after the shows returned, it looks like fans will get to see plenty more of their favorite shows for months to come.
Steve Kern, head of scheduling for NBC, spoke to Variety about what’s to come. “So for the Chicago shows, we have 22 episodes,” he stated regarding the current seasons. “The season is 35 weeks. So that means there are 12 or 13 weeks that we have to schedule either repeats or preemptions to get the shows to fit into the season. I’m more than happy to have a preemption that I know is going to do well, which is the Winter Olympics.”
Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med all aired 12 new episodes prior to the Winter Olympics. That means fans can anticipate 10 more new episodes before the seasons end. This should take the current seasons into April 2022.
When do ‘Chicago Med’ Season 7, ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9, and ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 return?
With 10 more new episodes for NBC’s One Chicago shows, when do Chicago Med Season 7, Chicago P.D. Season 9, and Chicago Fire Season 10 return?
According to One Chicago Center, the shows return with new episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022. The Winter Olympics air on NBC until Feb. 20, 2022.
It doesn’t look like any more major hiatuses are in the works for the shows, either. Ten new episodes of the shows could mean fans can potentially plan for an April 27th season finale date for the three shows.
Fans looking forward to a major One Chicago crossover event shouldn’t look forward to that in 2022, though. But it seems smaller crossover events are in the works. Chicago Med executive producer Diane Frolov told TV Insider, “At this point, we don’t have a major crossover planned, but we do have minor ones.”
Can fans expect future seasons of the shows?
With the return of NBC’s One Chicago shows, what’s to come once the seasons conclude? Once again, there’s good news for fans. Future viewers can expect Chicago P.D. Season 10, Chicago Fire Season 11, and Chicago Med Season 8 to happen thanks to NBC’s three-year contract.
One Chicago Center reports show creator Dick Wolf and NBC signed a contract in 2020 guaranteeing the One Chicago shows will dominate the Wednesday night timeslot on the network through May 2023. Once the current seasons conclude, fans can expect plenty more from their favorite characters and storylines from 8 p.m. EST to 11 p.m. EST on Wednesdays through the next year.
