‘One Piece’: All 7 of Zoro’s Swords the Pirate Hunter Owned for His Three-Sword Style

Roronoa Zoro has owned 7 different swords in ‘One Piece,’ from his first katanas all the way to his most recent addition with the Enma sword. Many he received as gifts or from defeated foes in his quest to become the greatest swordsman in the world.

As a mainstay in the One Piece cast, Roronoa Zoro has wielded several swords over the show’s run. With its 1000th episode and a live-action Netflix adaptation on the horizon, it might seem like the Pirate Hunter has wielded more sword than Tony Stark has Iron Man suits. However, the pirate hunter has only owned 7 in the anime series.

#7 – #6: Zoro’s unnamed katanas at the start of ‘One Piece’

The signature ‘Three-Sword Style’ fighting that Zoro performs in One Piece requires three swords. However, that meant starting the anime and manga series with two standard katanas and his main sword Wado Ichimonji.

They both shattered during his duel with Dracule Mihawk.

#5 Wado Ichimonji has appeared with Zoro in ‘One Piece’ since episode 2

Zoro carried the Wado Ichimonji sword with him for a personal reason. It once belonged to Koushiro, Zoro’s dojo master. It was originally to pass to Kuina, his daughter. However, after Kuina’s death, Zoro asked for Wado Ichimonji to remind him of his promise to become the best swordsman in the world.

Nearly 1000 episodes late, and he still carries the sword in the manga and anime.

#4 The cursed Sandai Kitetsu sword

Leave it to Zoro to wield a blade that curses the uses to a horrific death. He asserted his power over the weapon in Loguetown, finding it among cheaply made swords. He said that the sword was “bloodthirsty” and made his arm strike out without his input.

While Zoro has not had the Sandai Kitetsu as long in One Piece, it remained with him through the majority of the anime series.

#3 The family heirloom, Yubashiri

Similar to the Sandai Kitetsu, Zoro obtained Yubashiri in Loguetown. After seeing him handle the cursed sword, the sword seller Ipponmatsu gifted the family heirloom Yubashiri to the Pirate Hunter for free.

However, Zoro faced Marine captain Shu. The captain had the power to rust any metal by simply touching it. He managed to make contact with Yubashiri, and the blade rusted away. Zoro found a resting place for the hilt at Thriller Bank, where he obtained his next sword.

#2 The zombie’s sword, Shusui

A  legendary and world-famous samurai, Shimotsuki Ryuma wielded the Shusui sword before Zoro in One Piece. The swordsman returned as a zombie and fought Zoro during the Thriller Bank storyline.

However, once Zoro defeated the samurai, Ryuma gifted the sword. Ultimately, he traded Shusui for his latest blade.

#1 Zoro’s most recent sword in ‘One Piece,’ Enma

Shusui was seen as a national treasure in Ryuma’s homeland, Wano Country. Zoro received the sword Enma as his latest weapon in One Piece.

Kozuki Oden used the blade originally, “alongside another blade of the same class, known as Ame no Habakiri. Together, Oden used the two blades to perform ‘Oden Nitoryu,’ a powerful style that he described to be best in the entire world,” CBR notes.

With Zoro starring throughout One Piece’s run, the Pirate Hunter has used several blades. Some have stayed with him nearly the entire time.

However, as the TV show continues and manga creator Eiichiro Oda teases the end of the series, who knows what blades the swordsman could end up wielding.
