Oprah Has Strong Opinions on Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, & Megxit
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, made the most controversial decision of their lives when they announced Megxit. Megxit has inspired concern and derision. Oprah is known for commenting on current events. What did she have to say about Megxit?
Does Oprah support Megxit?
Like any extremely prominent public figure, Oprah has inspired controversy. Rather than jump on the anti-Megxit bandwagon, Oprah respects Harry and Meghan’s choice. According to Fox News, Oprah said “I support them 1,000 percent.”
She was moved by Harry’s statement about Megxit. “So, when you’ve thought about it for months and what Harry said in that charity statement the other day… The last line of his statement where he said that he had to make the decision to back away from his family in order to move forward in peace with his new family. I mean … I don’t know how they came up with those words, but who doesn’t feel that?”
Oprah said Harry was just looking out for his family. “I’m saying he did what he needed to do for his family, and that’s all I will say about that and I don’t think anybody, anybody else has any right to say anything. That’s his decision for his family.”
Oprah defends Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Oprah asked people to reserve judgement for Harry and Meghan. Inquisitr reports Oprah said “I don’t think anybody else has any right to say anything, when a person has sat and thought about what is the best decision for him and his family and then he makes that decision… none of us have any right to say anything about that.”
Oprah feels the prince made the right choice. According to BET, she said “Who doesn’t feel what it takes to make those decisions, to give up everything you’ve known your whole life, to say ‘I am going to choose this new life and what I believe to be the truest vision to myself?.’”
Does Oprah think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their decision carefully?
Oprah does not feel Harry and Meghan made a callous decision. “Who are any of us to stand in judgment of that? That’s what I think.” Oprah’s friend, Gayle King, opined “They didn’t make that [decision] in a vacuum. There were a lot of conversations, and that’s why I thought it was very unfair to say that the Queen was blindsided.”
According to Inquisitr, Oprah feels Megxit was being planned for months before the public knew about it. She said no one within Buckingham Palace was shocked by the news. This view contradicts those of Harry and Meghan’s critics, who say their actions were not discussed with other royal family members beforehand and were therefore insensitive.
King voiced a similar sentiment. She said Harry consulted with other members of the royal family before making his historic decision. She said “There were a lot of conversations.”
