Viewers ‘wish’ to see the Academy Awards announce Best Picture nominee rankings

Many social media users mentioned that the Oscars 2022 should announce the ranking for the Best Picture category, which would list them from the winner to the least voted nominee. One Twitter user suggested this practice, including a GIF to emphasize the drama that it would bring to the awards season.

“I wish the Oscars told us what place each Best Picture nominee came in throughout the broadcast!,” the Twitter user wrote. “Like ‘in 10th place, Don’t Look Up!'”

When it comes down to two Oscars 2022 Best Picture nominees, the presenter would announce the winner of the category. It’s reminiscent of a reality television format that certainly wouldn’t capture the younger demographic the academy is targeting.

The tweet earned a thread of comments supporting the idea. One response explained how badly they have wanted this to happen for years. After all, who doesn’t enjoy the drama of eliminations? in previous years, the broadcast showcased the Best Picture nominees periodically throughout the show.

However, one response in the threat wrote, “I disagree purely because Don’t Look Up would be so depressingly high.” The film earned the most amount of backlash out of the nominees for not belonging in the category.

Meanwhile, another Twitter user thinks that Nightmare Alley would rank as the lowest Oscars 2022 Best Picture nominee.
