The ‘Outer Banks’ Cast Really Wants Tom Holland to Join the Netflix Series
Could Tom Holland take his treasure-hunting skills to the Outer Banks in North Carolina? The cast of Netflix’s Outer Banks hopes so. During a recent panel at the Sun Valley Film Festival in Ketchum, Idaho, Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss revealed that he and his co-stars would love to see Holland appear as a guest on the adventure series. The hit show already has a slight connection to the Spider-Man actor, as OBX’s Rudy Pankow worked on Holland’s Uncharted film.
Rudy Pankow worked with Tom Holland on the ‘Uncharted’ movie
Uncharted, which hit theaters back in February, stars Holland as a young treasure hunter and thief named Nathan Drake. When a seasoned explorer named Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) recruits Nathan to find a $5 billion treasure, the two must race against the evil Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas) and his mercenaries to find the fortune first. Along the way, Nathan hopes to find answers about the disappearance of his older brother, Sam.
Pankow appears at the beginning of the film as Nathan’s brother, accompanied by a childhood version of Nathan (Tiernan Jones).
Although he didn’t have much screentime in Uncharted, Pankow was still able to pull from his experience playing a teenage treasure hunter (JJ Maybank) in Outer Banks. While attending the panel at Sun Valley Film Festival, the actor compared what it was like to work on both projects.
“Every set has a different energy, and adapting to that is also part of our job,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “The Uncharted set was high-energy again, but there’s all these other little nuances that are different — different eyes, different ways to think about how to shoot something, and it’s all just something I have to get used to on each set.”
The ‘Outer Banks’ cast would love to see Tom Holland in season 3
Because Pankow mentioned his time on Uncharted, the topic of Tom Holland appearing in Outer Banks came up. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like OBX creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke have any plans to bring the Marvel actor on board. However, the cast would love to see it happen.
“If it was up to us, Tom would be in our season finale,” said Jonathan Daviss, who plays Pope in Outer Banks.
It seems Holland is in high demand at the moment. Earlier this year, Euphoria fans begged for Holland to make a cameo, as his girlfriend, Zendaya, stars in the HBO series. Sadly, that wish didn’t come true. But it’s understandable — Holland has a busy schedule these days. He’s currently filming his first-ever TV series, The Crowded Room, for Apple TV.
The cast teased a ‘high-adrenaline’ season 3
For now, Outer Banks Season 3 will have to continue filming sans Tom Holland. Production started back in February, but it’s unclear how long filming will take. Thankfully, the cast had a few verbal teasers to share at the film festival to hold fans over.
“I think it’s adrenaline. It’s gonna be as exciting as ever,” Madelyn Cline (who plays Sarah Cameron) told THR.
“There is the same kind of feeling, where it’s gonna be high-adrenaline, high-octane — but new shades,” Pankow added.
Outer Banks Season 3 does not yet have a release date. Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet for more updates.
