Whether they’re dating or not, Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline are still closer than ever. While attending Glenn Close and Bring Change to Mind’s Revels & Revelations Gala on Dec. 2, Stokes took a moment to gush about his Outer Banks co-star. His comments come as rumors of a reunion between the former couple swirl, though Stokes didn’t confirm if he and Cline are back together. Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline’s relationship status is unclear
In early November, sources close to Stokes and Cline revealed the couple called it quits a few months prior. As StyleCaster notes, the insiders revealed that both actors had busy schedules and found it challenging to make time for each other. They reportedly decided to go their separate ways but remained on good terms.
Now, however, it’s rumored that Stokes and Cline have reconciled. The two were spotted hanging out together in Atlanta in late November. At the time, sources said the two were only friends, but they’ve since changed their tune. One told Entertainment Tonight on Dec. 3 that the on-screen lovers wanted to try the relationship again.
“[They] both felt like they were trying to force themselves into being single,” the source said. “Madelyn and Chase care about one another. They felt like they had to be apart to get back on track and be together in the future. Their relationship was very serious before, and right now, they’re slowly easing back into things and giving it another try. They’re not full-on back together, but they’re taking it slow and seeing where things go.”
Of course, these insider tidbits aren’t always accurate. Neither Stokes nor Cline has indicated a reunion in any way; for now, their relationship status remains up in the air.
Chase Stokes gushes about Madelyn Cline amid reunion rumors
Thankfully, Stokes has nothing but good things to say about Cline, regardless of their relationship status. The actor told Us Weekly at the gala that Cline is one of his “favorite people on planet Earth” — very high praise.
“You know, it’s super awesome to work with somebody that you care about that much, and yeah, I’ll leave it at that,” the Tell Me Your Secrets star said.
Stokes didn’t explain where he stands with Cline romantically right now, but he did open up about his other friendships. He continued on to say that his other Outer Banks co-star, Madison Bailey, is “like a sister” to him. As for the rest of the main cast, including Rudy Pankow and Jonathan Daviss, Stokes said:
We still talk every single day, collectively, as a group and, you know, you just kind of dream for opportunities like that. I mean, Outer Banks is a dream situation and to continue to tell this story as we have been has been … the biggest blessing in disguise I could have ever asked for.
The ‘Outer Banks’ stars began dating after season 1
Stokes and Cline’s relationship uncertainty comes after more than a year of making headlines for their sweet bond. The two met a few weeks before Outer Banks Season 1 filming began but didn’t start dating until after the show had wrapped.
The whirlwind romance took off from there as the two settled in together during coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns. For the next several months, Stokes and Cline gushed about their love for each other and dished on how they separated work from their dating life.
Many fans were disappointed to hear the news about their breakup. Some Outer Banks fans even feared the split would negatively affect their chemistry during season 3. However, if Stokes’ recent remark about Cline is any indication, that won’t be a problem at all.
