‘Outer Banks’ Season 3: Madelyn Cline Teases ‘Resolve’ for Sarah Cameron

Netflix has yet to announce a release date for ‘Outer Banks’ Season 3
The streaming giant confirmed another season of Outer Banks in December 2021. Fans got even more excited when director Valerie Weiss posted filming had begun in February 2022.
A few days later, fans spotted the Outer Banks cast shooting in Barbados. The Outer Banks crew should be shooting even more scenes for the new season in Charleston, South Carolina, which could last until August of this year. What’s On Netflix previously estimated that Outer Banks Season 3 would wrap filming on Aug. 19, 2022, but the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic could still cause delays in the filming schedule.
Madelyn Cline says the show will explore ‘different dynamics’ in season 3
In the first two seasons of Outer Banks, Sarah Cameron was torn between John B.’s (Chase Stokes) Pogue life and her family’s Kook life. That’s all about to change in the new season. Cline recently told E! News fans can expect “a lot of resolve for Sarah” in Outer Banks Season 3.
“[There will be] a lot of resolve and emotions toward her family,” she elaborated. “We haven’t seen her stand on her own two feet with her family for the last seasons, so we’re finally seeing that.”
Does this mean Sarah will finally stand up to her dad and brother? Cline continued: “We’re exploring a lot of different dynamics and story lines that we haven’t had a chance to yet. I’m just really excited about everything that we’ve shot and everything that I’ve read so far.”
‘Outer Banks’ Season 2 recap
In Outer Banks Season 2, John B. and Ward Cameron (Charles Esten) were at odds again; John B. wanted the $400 million in gold from the Royal Merchant, but his focus later shifted to the Cross of Santo Domingo, Pope’s (Jonathan Daviss) birthright.
After what unfolded in season 2, Sarah Cameron is still Team Pogue despite Ward’s staged death — especially after he tried to kill her. Outer Banks Season 2 ends with the Pogues, including newcomer Cleo (Carlacia Grant), escaping Ward’s clutches and retreating to a remote island they dub “Poguelandia.”
Before season 2 faded to black, Outer Banks revealed John B.’s father, Big John (Charles Halford), was still alive. In season 1, John B. believed Ward Cameron killed his father. However, the season 2 finale revealed he’s alive and hiding out in Barbados and willing to help Carla Limbrey (Elizabeth Mitchell) find a healing shroud. According to showrunner Jonas Pate, John B.’s relationship with his father will be a “huge theme” in season 3.
“Eventually, they’re going to meet back up,” Pate told Entertainment Weekly in 2021. “John B has to reconcile his idealized version of his dead dad with the reality of his alive dad. It gives us a lot of thematic father-son stuff to work with.”
