As Outer Banks returns with new episodes (details on that to come), star Madelyn Cline is ready to say goodbye to the Pogues’ adventures. When filming on season 4 wrapped, the 26-year-old actor felt like it marked the end of a chapter for her personally. Ahead, why Cline feels “the timing is right,” and what other roles are on the way. Plus, when Outer Banks Season 4 premieres

Cline feels ‘the timing is right’ to be done with her ‘college years’ on ‘Outer Banks’

Cline’s ready to graduate from the college that is Outer Banks. Speaking to C Magazine, she compared her time on the Netflix series to higher education, saying that although the experience has “shaped” her, she’s ready for what’s next.

“One thing I love about the boot camp that is ‘Outer Banks’ is that there’s so much of me that informed my character as I grew up,” she said. “But there’s also so much of my character that has shaped me.”

Cline plays Sarah Cameron, the daughter of a prominent family who aligns herself with the local “have-nots,” or the Pogues.

“I’ve spent the better part of six years with this cast and crew,” she continued. (Outer Banks quickly became a hit after premiering in 2020.) “I feel like I had my unofficial college years with them. They’ve seen me through so much.”

“But wrapping up this season, there was a sense of looming finality,” she went on. “The timing is right. I feel ready to differentiate myself, to explore new spaces. And have some wonder about stories that I haven’t been a part of telling.”

At the time of writing, it hasn’t been confirmed whether Outer Banks will return for another season, let alone Cline.

The ‘Outer Banks’ star has other acting roles in the works

While another season of Outer Banks starts, Cline has other projects on the way. In July 2024, it was announced she was “in talks” to lead an ensemble cast of an I Know What You Did Last Summer horror movie reboot alongside Camila Mendes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the release date is “penciled in” for July 18, 2025.

Also ahead for Cline is the film adaptation of J. P. Monninger’s The Map That Leads to You novel. In it, she plays Heather Mulgrew, a young woman who meets a stranger, played by Riverdale’s KJ Apa, who changes her life while traveling Europe with friends.

Outer Banks Season 4 premieres on Oct. 10

Cline’s time on Outer Banks isn’t up quite yet as far as fans are concerned. They can see her in new episodes when season 4 hits Netflix on Oct. 10, 2024.

Unlike previous seasons, however, the show is premiering in two parts rather than all 10 episodes hitting the streamer at once. Part One of Outer Banks Season 5, which consists of five episodes, premieres first, followed by Part Two a month later on Nov. 7, 2024.

John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah, JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) find themselves—no surprise here—once again looking for lost treasure.

After finding gold in season 3 and attempting to lead a “normal” life in “Poguelandia 2.0,” they soon find themselves in debt and taking Wes Genrette (David Jensen) on his proposal about Blackbeard’s Treasure fans saw in the season 3 finale
