Spoilers Ahead
Jamie get his wife back, but she suffers greatly before he arrives to rescue her
Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy) and his men abduct Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in episode 11 for a number of reasons. She’s treated brutally and is raped by multiple men before Jamie (Sam Heughan) and his men kill mostly everyone except for Lionel. They beat him and decide to take him back with them for questioning.
Claire is absolutely shocked and spends the majority of the episode dealing with what was done to her. It’s heart-wrenching to see her go through so much pain and torment. Fans admit it was hard to watch her being treated so terribly.
“I don’t really know what to say. That was tough,” a Reddit user said about the episode. “That was really freaking hard. Cait did amazing. Other than that, I’m at a loss for words.”
Other fans seem to agree that the entire episode was difficult to watch. “I bawled my eyes out the entire hour. To see a character like Claire go through such unimaginable trauma shattered my heart on every level,” a Reddit user wrote.
Marsali takes matters into her own hands
Jamie and his men return with Lionel and Claire eventually attempts to help him, but she just can’t. She ends up leaving the surgery room unable to tend to him. However, Marsali (Lauren Lyle) takes matters into her own hands and uses water hemlock in a syringe to kill Lionel right then and there.
Jamie finds her traumatized about taking Lionel’s life, but she knew she had to do it. Like she said, she would never let him hurt another soul in their home, not again.
“I wish that Lionel Brown would have been a little penitent at the end,” a Reddit user admitted. “I wanted him to beg for his life. I still think Marsali did a bang-up job killing him and I’d have been happy to see him suffer for a long time.”
Brianna and Roger return home to Fraser’s Ridge
In episode 11, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) travel with their son through the stones somewhere. In the finale, fans find out that they returned to Young Ian (John Bell) and the 1700s. They were thinking of home, and therefore they were taken right back to where they were needed most. Bri and Roger return back to Fraser’s Ridge just in time.
One fan was confused about how Brianna and Roger so easily gave up and returned home after what happened at the stones. “Can someone please explain to me why after all that effort Brianna and Roger were like ‘ah, rats! It didn’t work! Ah oh well, let’s get back to the Ridge?’ What was the point of the entire thing?” a fan wanted to know.
Another fan thinks it’s because the question of where they belonged and where “home” is was answered when they returned back. “I think they truly thought they were going home to the future. But the stones brought them to their true home. The question of leaving is answered now, they don’t want to anymore,” a Reddit user wrote.
The finale of season 5 of Outlander hit fans hard and they’re already ready for a new season to arrive.
