‘Outlander’ Just Got Easier For Fans to Watch Seasons 1-5 — Just in Time for Season 6
Outlander season 6 is scheduled to premiere in early 2022. The time-traveling drama follows the romance between a World War II nurse and an 18th century Scottish Highlander. Based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series, Outlander premiered on Starz in 2014 and has aired five seasons so far.
Ahead of the season 6 premiere, the premium cable network has just made it easier for fans to get caught up on the first five seasons of the epic fantasy series.
‘Outlander’ season 6 will be a short one
Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Roberts revealed this past summer that season 6 will feature just eight episodes due to “an unprecedented set of challenges.” This is much shorter than in seasons past. Season 1 featured 16 episodes, seasons 2 through 4 each had 13 episodes, and season 5 featured 12 episodes.
“Filming in 2021 has presented an unprecedented set of challenges,” Roberts said, according to Express. “[This] led us to the decision to truncate the season in order to bring the fans the most vibrant and dynamic season as soon as possible.”
In other words, if they would have attempted a normal season with at least 12 episodes, Droughtlander would be much longer. Even with the shorter season, the hiatus between seasons 5 and 6 will be nearly two years.
Sam Heughan says season 6 was not an easy one to shoot
Outlander is a huge production that features a large ensemble of actors, a massive crew, and a number of period set pieces and costumes. Even under the best of circumstances, it’s not an easy series to film. But amid a pandemic, star Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) says season 6 was one of the hardest to shoot so far.
“It is, to be fair, the shortest season we’ve done. It’s only eight episodes,” Heughan said on the Just the Facts with Alex Zane podcast. “But it was potentially one of the hardest, because we were shooting during a pandemic. There were just a lot of factors involved that made it pretty difficult to shoot.”
Starz has just made ‘Outlander’ easier to watch
Ahead of the season 6 premiere, Starz has made all of its programming a lot easier to watch. Including Outlander, the premium cable network’s highest-rated series.
Starz has launched a limited-time subscription sale that allows viewers to sign up for a new membership to the Starz streaming platform for just $3 per month for the next three months. This is more than a 50 percent discount from the original monthly subscription price of $8.99.
The Starz special subscription offer ends soon
This special $3-per-month offer will only be available for a limited amount of time. Fans will be able to grab the offer until the end of September. And the subscription will give them access to a lot more than just the first five seasons of Outlander.
Fans can watch other Starz originals, like the Power series, Heels, Dublin Murders, Men In Kilts, and The White Queen. The streamer also has a large selection of films in its library, including Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Elf, Men in Black, and the recent Oscar winner The Father. There are also fantastic classic comedies like Party Down, which is getting a reboot.
How ‘Outlander’ fans can get the deal ahead of season 6
In order to take advantage of this special offer from Starz, you can’t have a currently active membership. This means you must be a first-time subscriber or a previous subscriber who didn’t renew.
The offer doesn’t include a free trial, and the membership will automatically renew with the normal $8.99-per-month charge when the three-month period is over. If you want to avoid the price increase, you can cancel your subscription at any time.
Once you’ve signed up, you can watch Starz on most devices including laptops, smartphones, smart TVs, or with a streamer stick.
Outlander seasons 1 through 5 are available on Starz. Season 6 is expected to premiere in February 2022.
