Another Droughtlander is on the horizon. Outlander Season 7 wraps up on Jan. 17, but Starz is making it easier to endure the wait for the eighth – and final – season of the steamy time-traveling drama. The prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere this summer, Starz announced on Thursday, the same day it revealed a teaser for the new show.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood might not feature fan-favorite couple Claire and Jamie. But it will deliver a double-dose of romance as it explores the parallel love stories of their parents.

The Outlander prequel will follow Jamie’s mother Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and father Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s mother Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) in WWI-era England.

A new teaser trailer hints at what to expect from the show, including epic romance, wartime drama, and gorgeous landscapes.

“Without you, I am adrift,” someone – presumably Henry – whispers in the trailer’s final seconds. Swoon.

In addition to Jamie and Claire’s parents, the show will also introduce younger versions of many familiar Outlander characters, including Murtagh FItzgibbons Fraser (Rory Alexander), Column MacKenzie (Séamus McLean) and Dougal MacKenzie (Sam Retford), Mrs. Fitz (Sally Messham), Jocasta Cameron (Sadhbh Malin), Arch Bug (Terence Rae), Ned Gowan (Conor MacNeill) and Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat (Tony Curran).

A premiere date for Outlander: Blood of My Blood hasn’t been announced, but the teaser promises it will arrive sometime in the summer of 2025.

The new Outlander prequel series should give fans something to chew over as they speculate about what’s to come in Outlander Season 8. During a Jan. 15 appearance on The Tonight Show (via YouTube), series star Sam Heughan said that viewers should brace themselves for an intense season finale.

“Seventh season, part B, huge cliffhanger at the end,” he said. “There’s something for fans … It absolutely is one of my favorite finales. Incredible Outlander moments. Big drama. Big cliffhanger. Something that I think everyone’s going to be talking about for quite some time.”

While Outlander is taking a break, Starz viewers will also get to see more of Heughan in his new show, The Couple Next Door. It premieres Jan. 17, immediately after the Outlander Season finale.

“It’s a psychological, sexy drama,” he shared. “Has an amazing cast. And the storyline is so explosive. You’re going to love it.”
