Brianna and Roger make a choice
Brianna and Roger have already discussed that they will attempt to travel through the stones back to their original time. Everyone learns in episode 11 that Jemmy can in fact travel just like his parents when he touches Otter Tooth’s stone. It feels warm to the touch to everyone who can time travel, including Jemmy. When he touches it, the stone cracks, which is strange and then there’s a loud buzzing that only Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jemmy, Bri, and Roger can hear.
They take this as a sign that Jemmy can travel through the stones, and so they get things prepared for the journey through time. Bri wants to give everyone proper goodbyes and not just leave without saying anything. They tell everyone that Roger has taken a job as a university professor in Boston, which is the truth, just a few hundred years in the future.
Jamie and Brianna share a moment
Jamie (Sam Heughan) tells Brianna about her younger brother William who Lord John Grey (David Berry) takes such good care of. Bri tells him that the picture of William looks like Jamie. He tells her to look William up in the history books when she returns to her time, after all he is an earl, so he should be quite easy for her to find.
“After your mother left me with you in her belly, I never thought I’d see you,” Jamie tells his daughter. “Even though I may never see any of you again, you have made my life whole.”
Jamie kisses his daughter’s hand and they share this tender moment together reflecting on what they have as a family.
Why that conversation is so important
Brianna and her father haven’t always had the best relationship. It was hard for them to connect after meeting in some ways, but they finally get closer and their family bond is whole. This conversation they share solidifies their relationship and means that even though time may separate them, they will always have each other as father and daughter. It’s a touching moment that shows just how far they have both come.
Jamie finally accepts Roger and they have repaired their relationship. It seems like just when things start to settle down, Bri and Roger are going to leave and nothing will ever be the same. In episode 11, Bri, Roger, and Jemmy travel through the stones and end up somewhere, but it remains to be seen which time they find themselves in currently. Hopefully we will learn their fates in the next episode.
