Roger (Richard Rankin) has been dealing with a lot. In episode 7, he’s tasked with delivering a message to Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) before the impending battle. He runs into his ancestor and a woman he’s encountered before. Her husband assumes the worst and beats Roger. He’s taken to another group of men and hanged. However, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is able to save him just in time to get air into his lungs. Months later, he’s recovered finally, although he has a hard time speaking at first.

A familiar face returns to Fraser’s Ridge

Young Ian (John Bell) has been gone from Fraser’s Ridge for some time. He has finally returned home and he isn’t the same. Fans will remember that Ian chose to stay behind with the Mohawk after he and Jamie (Sam Heughan) sell Roger to them after a case of mistaken identity.

Ian is a little different after being around the Mohawk for so long. For example, he finds it hard to sleep in a bed now and prefers the ground. When he agrees to go with Roger to survey the land gifted to him by the governor, Roger prevents Ian from killing himself. It turns out Ian stole some water hemlock from Claire’s surgery area. Roger stops him just in time and the two have a nice heart to heart about life.

Ian asks Roger what he saw when his life was hanging in the balance. He says it was his wife’s face that he saw, which doesn’t comfort Ian. It seems he’s lost someone and she’s now gone from him. He wanted his pain to end, but Roger convinces him to keep living.

Fans love the new Bromance brewing between Roger and Ian

Bell recently posted a hilarious image of himself and Rankin holding hands. It’s a play on Outlander’s promo material, but instead it shows Roger and Ian holding hands together as they look onward.

“Just two boys on a camping trip, braving the new world… @RikRankin,” Bell captioned the post. Rankin reshared the image as well. Fans are absolutely loving the photo and the new bromance and friendship brewing on the Ridge.

Fans seem to really dig the bromance. “I love you John! That would be one hell of a twist! Haha bromance on the horizon! Nice title what do you think?” the fan commented.

Another fan loved the new image so much that they want to use it as a screensaver. “I need this as my new screensaver on my phone. Bye bye Jamie and Claire. Hello Ian and Roger,” a fan wrote.

Viewers of Outlander can’t seem to get enough of the bromance between Roger and Ian. Hopefully there will be more scenes of them together in the future.
