Claire is rescued, but not before she is treated terribly

Claire is raped by multiple men and beaten before Jamie (Sam Heughan) is able to rescue her with his men. They kill almost everyone, although Lionel is still breathing. They take him back for questioning and he’s taken to Claire’s surgery room. She comes down to try and help him, but she’s unable to do it, and who can blame her? When Claire leaves the room, Marsali takes matters into her own hands.

Marsali is left alone with Lionel, who is clearly not remorseful in the slightest. Marsali takes water hemlock and puts it in a syringe. He asks what it’s for, to which Marsali tells him: “I’ve been learning the art of healing. Mistress Fraser has taught me well. She took an oath to do no harm. I have taken no such oath,” Marsali says as she sticks the syringe in Lionel’s neck. “You hurt me, you hurt my family, you hurt my Ma. I’ll watch you burn in hell before I let you harm another soul in this house.”

Marsali kills Lionel with the water hemlock, although she’s shaken from what she’s done. Jamie finds her and consoles her afterward. Marsali did what Claire was unable to do because of her oath. She did it for her mother, since she considers Claire just that.

Fans can’t stop talking about Marsali’s big moment

Fans have been discussing the situation on Reddit since it happened and many viewers loved this particular scene with Marsali. She really owns the moment and does what she has to. She wasn’t going to let Lionel heal and get well when he deserved to die for what he did to Claire.

“It was a tough episode, but the moment that made me lose it and bawl my eyes out was when Marsali called Claire her Ma. I cried and cried, but those were happy tears,” a Reddit user admitted.

Another fan said that replayed that scene to see it again, that’s how powerful it is. “Yes! I replayed that scene! No such oath! She claimed her power,” another fan wrote.

Numerous fans can’t get over Marsali calling Claire her Ma. It was a beautiful moment that shows just how close the two have gotten. “So beautiful. I was crying a good part of the show. But her calling her Ma. Just so emotional. This episode made me feel so many feels,” a fan said.
