‘Ozark’ Season 4 Part 2: Javi Actor Teases ‘Mind-Blowing’ Season Ending, Says Fans Will Never Expect ‘What’s Going to Happen’

Netflix’s Ozark Season 4 Part 1 is officially out. Fans can continue on Marty and Wendy Byrde’s journey through money laundering and dealing with a dangerous drug cartel. The final season brought newcomer Alfonso Herrera on as Javi, Omar Navarro’s threatening nephew. And Herrera gave fans clues as to what they can expect from Ozark Season 4 Part 2. Here’s what he said about the “mind-blowing” end.
Who is Javi in ‘Ozark’ Season 4?
Javi Elizonndro is the latest villain fans will surely see more of in Ozark Season 4 Part 2. In part 1, Omar Navarro introduced Javi as his nephew — and he warned Wendy and Marty Byrde of Javi’s ruthless demeanor. Later in the season, Javi told the Byrdes he voted for them to die instead of Helen Pierce. At the end of part 1, Javi shoots and kills Darlene Snell and Wyatt Langmore.
“When I read that, as a fan, I was in shock,” Herrera told Entertainment Weekly regarding the two deaths. “But, as the actor playing Javi, I was very excited to see the arc of this character. That last scene, it’s very potent, it’s very explosive.”
In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Herrera addressed Javi’s point of view and what fans can expect of his mindset. “Javier represents a new era of how businesses are being done right now,” he said. “He comes from a university, he understands businesses completely different as his uncle, he doesn’t see his business as a family business, he wants to construct and consolidate something bigger and wider.”
Javi actor talks ‘Ozark’ Season 4 Part 2, calls the end of the season ‘mind-blowing’
Ozark Season 4 Part 2 isn’t out just yet. But fans are more excited than ever to see how everything concludes for the Byrdes. Javi actor Alfonso Herrera touched on what’s to come during his interview with Entertainment Weekly — and he called the end of the season “mind-blowing.”
“What’s going to happen afterward, it’s going to be mind-blowing,” he noted “If you think that Javi is someone that you cannot read and you do not expect how he’s going to react, what’s going to happen next is that times 20.”
Given how Javi killed Darlene and Wyatt without a second thought, this likely means more death is imminent. Perhaps Navarro’s fears will come true, and Javi will kill Navarro to take over the drug business. Either way, the Byrdes will have to come up with a plan to keep themselves safe.
The showrunner said part 2 delves ‘deeper into the family’
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, writer/producer Chris Mundy said Ozark Season 4 Part 2 delves “deeper into the family and their bonds.” We fully expect this means more division — or perhaps, more resolution — amongst Marty, Wendy, Jonah, and Charlotte.
“Is family the ultimate bond?” Mundy questioned. ” … At what point is it almost unhealthy to stay, even if you love somebody?” Mundy said. “We’re going to delve into that with Marty and Wendy.” He also noted there will be “really emotional” moments ahead for “the Byrdes and Ruth.”
When does Ozark Season 4 Part 2 air? There’s no official air date for the next part of the season currently, but it seems like it’s already been filmed. This likely means fans can expect a 2022 air date.
