‘P-Valley’ Season 2 Reported Release Date Revealed
Starz announced in July of 2020 that it had renewed its hit drama series P-Valley, but few updates have emerged since then. Like many other shows, the series was delayed due to complications related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. But it (finally) seems to be getting closer to the air. Here, learn the reported release date for P-Valley Season 2 and other information about the show.
‘P-Valley’ Season 2 to premiere in late 2022, according to a report
The newspaper The Commercial Appeal reports that P-Valley will return to Starz on Sept. 4, 2022, noting the date comes nearly “two years to the day after the Sept. 6, 2020, airing of the eighth and final episode of its critically acclaimed and highly popular first season.”
Emails to Starz requesting additional comment on the reported release date were not immediately returned. However, it was previously believed that the show would return in 2022. The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed it’ll have more episodes this time, upping the count to 10 instead of eight.
P-Valley features actors such as Elarica Johnson (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Nicco Annan (Claws), and Tyler Lepley (The Haves and the Have Nots) and follows the day-to-day at The Pynk, a strip club in the fictional Chucalissa, Mississippi. It was created by award-winning writer Katori Hall and exploded upon its 2020 premiere, winning scores of fans and becoming one of Starz’s most popular shows.
‘P-Valley’ left off with a bang… literally
The latest episode concluded with the apparent shooting death of Autumn’s abusive ex-boyfriend, Montavius. While the identity of the shooter is unknown, Hall teased that Autumn (Johnson), Mercedes (Brandee Evans), and Uncle Clifford (Annan) all share some responsibility for what happened.
“If they didn’t have a strong bond before, they have an even stronger bond now because there’s this secret that exists between all three of them,” she told Thrillist. “As we develop these characters even more, I think time will reveal what truly happened in the Paradise Room, but there’s so many levels to what happened and what the cover-up is, and who has been a part of the cover-up. I’m just really excited to see how people react.”
Evans added that viewers will also get to see more of the characters’ lives outside of work.
“It’s even more prevalent in season two that you can see that this is way beyond these ladies being naked and showing their bodies and being on a pole,” she told Gold Derby. “You’re going to see a lot of things that happen outside the club this season, making it humanizing as well, because everyone has a life when they go home from their job and so do these women and these men in the club as well.”
The series is available now on Starz
While the wait has been longer than expected, it sounds like it’ll be worth it. Until then, the first few episodes of P-Valley are available now on Starz. You can also find our recommendations for similar shows to watch below.
