‘P-Valley’: Season 2 Will Focus on Drama Outside of the Club
P-Valley is one of the most captivating TV series on cable right now. Set in the fictional town of Chucalissa, Mississippi, the series centers around The Pynk, a popular strip club in the area. The club is run by Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan), the non-binary owner, as well as the various dancers who work for her.
Autumn (Elarica Johnson) is a mysterious woman who shows up at the club one night. Mercedes (Brandee Evans), The Pynk’s long-time headliner, is planning her final dance. Meanwhile, Keyshawn, aka Ms. Mississippi (Shannon Thornton), juggles her career, a new baby, and an abusive relationship.
While some of the drama was resolved in the first season of P-Valley, things are about to get more intense outside of the club in the second season.
What is the ‘P-Valley’ Season 2 release date?
The second season of P-Valley has recently begun filming in Atlanta. However, there is no word yet on when the new episodes will premiere. Though the first season of the acclaimed drama series debuted in July 2020, we don’t expect to return to The Pynk until the spring of 2022. However, Starz will undoubtedly announce the release date in the upcoming months.
Though we have to wait for more P-Valley, creator Katori Hall has revealed some of the things we can expect to see when the series returns. The dynamic within The Pynk is set to change drastically. “[Autumn] came in getting her a** smacked on the dance floor, and now, she has some ownership in the club,” Hall explained to Entertainment Weekly. “The power dynamics at the club have completely changed, and to see Uncle Clifford and Hailey fight over the throne will be stuff of legends.”
The casting call for the second season also reveals a bit more information about the forthcoming season.
Inside the ‘P-Valley’ Season 2 casting call
In March 2021, Starz announced the casting call for new characters that will appear in the second season of P-Valley. The details of the casting call gave fans a hint about what to expect when the series does head back to our TV screens.
According to the casting call, Starz was searching for of-age actors with dancing experience. However, no matter what the true ages of the actors were, they needed to be able to present in their 20s. With Autumn aboard and some additional money coming into the club, it looks like The Pynk is ready to expand. The casting call asks that these men, women, and non-binary actors should be comfortable with nudity and sexual scenes.
This suggests that along with the drama, P-Valley will also continue to be as sexy as possible.
‘P-Valley’ Season 2 will focus on drama outside of The Pynk
With the second season of P-Valley on the horizon, Evans who stars as Mercedes is hinting that a lot more of the drama will go down outside of the club. “You’re going to see a lot of things that happen outside the club this season, making it humanizing as well because everyone has a life when they go home from their job and so do these women and these men in the club as well,” she told Gold Derby.
