‘P-Valley’ Star Says Season 2 Will Not Let Fans Down
There’s always a fear when a TV show takes longer than usual to return to the air that it might dip in quality. But actor Shannon Thornton insists that won’t be the case with P-Valley. She even thinks fans might enjoy P-Valley Season 2 more than the first one.

During the wait, P-Valley has kept fans entertained with behind-the-scenes footage from the show. In one particular clip, released in February, P-Valley creator and showrunner Katori Hall discussed some of the plot details, character arcs, and other things that fans would get to see when the series returns.
“I think y’all are going to like this season even more than the last,” Thornton (Keyshawn/Miss Mississippi) wrote on Twitter as fans began to share their excitement over the clip.
What to expect from Keyshawn in ‘P-Valley’ Season 2
In the first season of P-Valley, Keyshawn was trying to juggle work and life as a new mom. She was stuck in an abusive relationship with her child’s father, Derrick, and decided to pursue music as a way of gaining independence from him. But that just created more tension in the relationship.
At Murda Night, club bouncer Diamond confronted Derrick about the abuse. He had developed feelings for Keyshawn during their time working together at The Pynk and tried to help her leave Derrick, but in a surprise twist, Keyshawn chose to stay with him.
“As we move forward into her next chapter, you will see her reckoning with that mistake, and really coming into her own as a woman, as a mother, and as an artist,” Hall said of P-Valley Season 2 in the behind-the-scenes video.
What about the other characters?
Meanwhile, more chaos was unfolding in the Paradise Room, where Montavius ultimately seemed to die in a shooting. What happened exactly is unclear, but Uncle Clifford cryptically told Mercedes later on that he had “handled it.”
Of that scene, Hall told Entertainment Weekly: “I can only say that the secret of what went down in the Paradise Room will bond Uncle Clifford, Mercedes, and Hailey forever. It remains to be seen if the Delta Devoted will come looking for Montavius in season 2.”
P-Valley fans will find out what happens in June when the show returns to Starz. We know, it’s longer than people had hoped, but various cast members have promised that it’ll be worth the wait.
“I can tell you that it’s going to be well worth the wait, and a lot of your questions will be answered,” Brandee Evans, who plays Mercedes, told BlackFilmandTV.com. “And so it’s a bigger rollercoaster ride to me. To me, it’s more emotional, it’s even more real, and I didn’t even think that was possible. But just very much more relatable and real.”
“It’s just going to be beautiful,” she added. “Y’all, it is worth the wait, I’m telling you.”
