‘Pajama Sam,’ ‘Spy Fox,’ and More ‘Putt-Putt’ Games Are Heading to Nintendo Switch Very Soon — Here’s What to Know
Fans of Humongous Entertainment’s ’90s point-and-click adventure games are about to have a busy weekend. The game developer has announced that four classic titles from the Pajama Sam, Spy Fox, and Putt-Putt series will launch on Nintendo Switch in February, giving fans a chance to relive their childhood. Here’s which games are on their way and when they’ll hit the Nintendo eShop.
4 Humongous Entertainment games are heading to Nintendo Switch
Throughout the ’90s, Humongous Entertainment dominated the edutainment genre with its wide variety of adventure games for kids. The Pajama Sam, Spy Fox, Freddi Fish, and Putt-Putt games were especially popular, with at least four games in each series.
Humongous Entertainment announced via Twitter that four beloved titles will soon receive Switch ports: Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, Pajama Sam: Thunder and Lightning Aren’t So Frightening, Spy Fox in Dry Cereal, and Pajama Sam: No Need to Hide When It’s Dark Outside.
In Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo (1995), an anthropomorphic car named Putt-Putt and his dog, Pep, help to get the new Cartown Zoo ready for its grand opening and find several missing zoo animals. Meanwhile, Spy Fox in Dry Cereal (1997) takes players on their first adventure with the titular Spy Fox, who sets out to thwart a villain’s plan to get rid of the world’s cow milk.
Pajama Sam: No Need to Hide When It’s Dark Outside (1996) is the first of four main Pajama Sam games. In the game, young boy named Sam decides to face his fear of the dark using his superhero-inspired equipment. The sequel, Pajama Sam: Thunder and Lightning Aren’t So Frightening (1998), sees Sam face his fear of thunderstorms.
‘Pajama Sam,’ ‘Spy Fox,’ and ‘Putt-Putt’ Nintendo Switch release date
The Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt, and Spy Fox games will release on Nintendo Switch on Feb. 10, according to Humongous. However, eager fans can pre-order all four titles now. The games are currently on sale for $11.99 each, with an original price of $14.99. The sale will end on Feb. 17, so now is the time to stock up on these classics.
‘Freddi Fish 3’ and ‘Putt-Putt Travels Through Time’ arrived in December
The new Nintendo Switch ports come just a few weeks after Humongous dropped two other classics — Putt-Putt Travels Through Time and Freddi Fish 3: The Case of The Stolen Conch Shell. In the former, Putt-Putt must travel through four different time periods to retrieve his dog and his lost school supplies. In the latter, the mystery-solving Freddi Fish and her friend, Luther, must figure out who stole a sacred conch shell from the Founder’s Day Festival.
Humongous Entertainment has not announced any other point-and-click adventure ports for Nintendo Switch. However, there are still plenty more titles in the Pajama Sam, Freddi Fish, Spy Fox, and Putt-Putt series — hopefully, the collections will soon be complete.
