Halloween is just around the corner. It’s officially time to enjoy the onslaught of horror movies and television shows to get audiences in the holiday spirit. Some titles are playing exclusively in theaters. However, streaming services are getting many of these horror releases. Paranormal Activity is a supernatural horror franchise that premiered in 2007. However, it wasn’t widely released until 2009. Its box office brought in a massive $193 million global total against a $15,000 budget. This launched the further development of Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions. The company makes low-cost horror movies that bring in large profits.

Paranormal Activity inspired four sequels and a spinoff. Paranormal Activity 3 marked the franchise’s financial peak. The following installments couldn’t manage to reach the same box office heights. 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension marked the final installment for some time. However, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin seeks to breathe new life into the franchise.

The JoBlo YouTube channel uploaded the Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin full-length trailer. Some of the teaser trailer’s footage is repeated, but there’s an abundance of new footage to check out.

Margot (Emily Bader) is a documentary filmmaker. She enters a secluded Amish community with the expectation of meeting her long-lost mother and learning more about her extended family. However, something about this community seems sinister.

The community appears to lead a simple, quiet life. However, the trailer interrupts the silence with disturbing imagery, creepy children, and an ominous church that features the demon Asmodeus. Further research proves that this entity was trapped inside the chosen woman of God. It’s clear that the new installment is focusing on a new demon, which gives the movie more options that don’t rely on the previous films.

Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin appears to get even scarier with loud bangs and a dark tunnel that leads underground. The video concludes with a beast-like growl and something quickly approaching the camera before it cuts to black.

Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin jumps onto Paramount+ Oct. 29. Audiences initially expected the movie to play in theaters similar to the previous installments. However, several horror movies including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hellraiser are going direct-to-streaming services. Horror fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see how the new installment revives the franchise.
