‘Paris in Love’ Season 1 Episode 8 recap: Paris Hilton doesn’t tell Carter Reum everything that happened in New York
The Dec. 23 episode of Paris in Love ended with Paris in tears telling her mom and sister, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, she wasn’t sure about marrying Carter Reum. Now in the latest episode which began streaming on Dec. 30, according to Peacock, it’s three days later. Paris is back home in California embarrassed about what happened.
During a conversation with Kathy and Nicky Paris says her now-husband is different from anyone else she’s ever been with and chalks it up to exhaustion. Although she also realizes her teenage years are still impacting her life today.
And when Carter asks about the trip to New York City, Paris isn’t completely honest. She tells him she felt overwhelmed and tired from the wedding planning and work. Asked in a solo interview why she didn’t tell Carter she’d briefly expressed doubts about marrying him, Paris says she didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
Paris Hilton discussing her boarding school experience with a mind architect
After mentioning a mind architect to Nicky Paris finally sits down with one at her mom’s house. She meets with Peter Crone to talk about her past, particularly her time at boarding school featured in the This Is Paris documentary.
Paris says the memories have stayed with her, and are still with her, all these years later. From nightmares about being taken out of bed to not being able to enjoy happy moments, Paris says it’s still very much a part of her life.
Additionally, Paris touches on why she doesn’t talk about boarding school with her parents. She says she’s scared to talk to her mom about it as Peter asks questions to get to the reason for why that is.
Kathy Hilton talks to a psychotherapist
Paris isn’t the only one confronting her past in Paris in Love Season 1 Episode 8. Kathy, a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, sits down with a psychotherapist. They talk about a range of things including childhood, marriage, motherhood, and how her own experiences as a kid may have influenced the Hilton family dynamic.
Kathy touches on why she never talks about boarding school with Paris, particularly the night of the “intervention.” Kathy says she’s never discussed it. She recalls crying alone when her kids were at school but never actually talking about it.
Because of that, the conversation turns to her own upbringing and the family dynamic she experienced. The 62-year-old recalls being surrounded by “dramatic” sisters and a “controlling” mother.
The wedding drama continues in the midst of Paris and Kathy confronting their pasts. Nicky tells Paris the invitation she received has typos. On top of that, Nicky knows another guest’s invitation doesn’t light up — yes, light up — just as Paris expected.
